"So don't stress, absolutely nothing terrible has happened yet."
When it came to comforting people, Maeve was, well, pretty average.
After offering Andres a few quick words of reassurance, Maeve asked Quinn for a few more talismans and promptly set the wooden doll on fire.
As the doll burned, everyone swore they could hear agonizing, ear-piercing shrieks echoing from the dancing flames.
Two streaks of what looked exactly like blood began to weep from the doll's eyes.
Quinn and Maeve exchanged a highly synchronized look.
They spoke in total unison: "The person who set this up is nearby."
Maeve immediately fired off orders to Butler Tanner:
"Lock down the entire White Manor. Right now."
"Take the security team and search every single room."
"Whoever is bleeding from the eyes and looks like they're about to drop dead is the mastermind behind this curse."
Andres shot Hans and Murray a look.
"Grab your men and split up."
Following orders, Butler Tanner, Murray, and Hans each took a team of staff and guards and began sweeping the estate for the culprit.
With things escalating to this point, Elijah deeply realized just how outclassed he was.
Maeve's god-tier maneuvers had entirely shattered his understanding of the world.
He spoke to Maeve from the bottom of his heart:
"Miss Vance, your skills are truly beyond anything The Luminary Order can match. We are genuinely humbled."
Even Ian, who had just been bossed around doing manual labor, felt a surge of deep respect for this girl who was younger than him.
He nodded solemnly.
"My master always said there's always a bigger fish in the sea. Turns out, that's the absolute truth."
Maeve ignored their flattery and let her gaze fall squarely on Sylvia.
Sensing what was coming, Sylvia instinctively covered her compass with her hand.
She was terrified Maeve was about to snatch her most prized possession right then and there.
