Even though Andres was entirely against it, he couldn't stop Maeve from meeting Simon Grover.
As they pulled up to the location, they spotted Simon—blessed with a face meant for the cameras—leaning casually against a luxury car.
He was tall, long-legged, and decked out in designer brands that screamed extreme wealth and status.
Because of his striking looks and the prominent spot he chose to wait in, pedestrians couldn't help but stare.
This was a world that worshipped beauty, and people as good-looking as him inherently walked around with main-character energy.
Andres didn't say anything out loud, but internally, he scoffed at Simon.
Dressing up so flashy was a blatant attempt to use his looks to seduce his Maeve.
The moment their car stopped, Simon looked over.
Maeve was about to open the door when Andres grabbed her arm.
"Wait. Let me get the door for you."
Maeve: "Is that really necessary?"
Andres adopted a surprisingly dominant tone.
"Absolutely."
In front of an enemy, he had to assert his territory.
He personally stepped out, walked around, and opened the door. Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, he took Maeve's hand and guided her out of the car.
His elegant and proper movements looked exactly like a royal prince assisting his beloved princess.
The onlookers had initially been curious about Simon.
After all, the man was gorgeous, practically radiating perfection from head to toe.
It was obvious he was waiting for someone.
Everyone had been wondering exactly what kind of person was worth a man like that standing out in the sun.
But when Andres and Maeve stepped into view, the bystanders could only sigh in awe.
There truly were levels to society.
Simon was already flawless enough to make women drool.
Simon: "Aren't you lying through your teeth? At Timothy Cross's party, you went out of your way to make things difficult for me."
Andres raised an eyebrow. "And your point is?"
Simon glanced at Maeve.
"I'm just suddenly curious... who exactly was the source of that hostility?"
Others might not have caught the underlying meaning, but Andres did.
Simon was subtly reminding him that there was bad blood between the Grover family and the White family.
As for the exact origin of that feud, Simon refrained from saying it out loud in front of Maeve.
Andres nonchalantly brushed off a non-existent speck of dust from Simon's shoulder and smiled back:
"Rest assured, it has nothing to do with the Grover family. Certain people have long lost the right to affect my mood."
The implication was clear: it was ancient history, and there was no point bringing it up.
A dark glint flashed in Simon's eyes.
