"I hear Maeve is quite close with my Uncle Andres. If you're trying to steal a woman from him, you're way out of your league."
Ever since Maeve had grabbed hold of Millie's metaphorical lifeline, the girl had smartly learned to avoid provoking her.
Fortunately, Maeve was a woman of her word.
As long as Millie didn't stir up trouble, her humiliating secrets would remain safely hidden from the public eye.
After taking a series of silent losses against Maeve, Millie had become much more obedient recently.
Especially after finding out that her untouchable Uncle Andres had also fallen for Maeve.
Millie didn't dare cross the line with her anymore.
But that didn't stop her from lurking on the sidelines to enjoy the drama.
She watched Leah Ford's downfall, witnessed Anya Morales's ruin, and now, she was more than happy to watch Mateo make a fool of himself.
Mateo gave a disdainful snort.
"The biggest difference between you and me is our perspective and our character."
"Who says you have to possess the person you like?"
"Silently admiring, blessing, and protecting them is also a form of love."
Millie curled her lip.
"Your love is so noble."
"Of course it is," Mateo replied smoothly. "True love knows no bounds."
Millie rolled her eyes in silence.
That evening, as Maeve was getting ready to leave campus, she ran into Leah Ford near the gates.
Or rather, it wasn't a coincidence at all; Leah had deliberately blocked her path.
Seeing Leah flanked by her usual crowd of sycophants made Maeve grimace.
She felt like sharing the same air with these people was polluting the environment.
She quickened her pace to leave, but Leah called out from behind.
"Maeve, are you that terrified of seeing me?"
Maeve stopped in her tracks and exaggeratedly cleaned her ear right in front of Leah's face.
"Did I hear that right? You think I'm scared of you? Shouldn't you be the one shaking in your boots?"
"Just like why Anya posted the video of you bullying Daisy Duke online."
"And why the footage of me teaching you a lesson in the restroom mysteriously vanished."
Leah snapped back to reality, her eyes wide.
"You were behind all of it?"
She had wondered why Anya would suddenly lose her mind and upload that bullying video.
It turned out Anya hadn't lied; the mastermind pulling the strings was Maeve all along.
Maeve flashed a remarkably innocent smile.
"Behind what? I have no idea what you're talking about."
Leah had enjoyed smooth sailing her entire life. The only crushing defeats she had ever suffered were dealt by Maeve.
Thinking of the countless times she had stumbled because of this girl, Leah spat out furiously,
"I used to think you were so capable, getting specially recruited by Lab C."
"But look at you now! The whole of Aethelburg University knows that our so-called super genius got rejected by them."
