Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 769

An island prison?

Wiona’s head snapped back toward Ryan, her eyes wide with shock. It was only when she saw his solemn expression that she knew he wasn’t joking.

“Can you tell me why he was sent to prison?”

“What crime did he commit?”

“Why an island prison?”

“And if you don’t even know the location of this prison, how am I supposed to find him?”

Ryan could only shake his head.

“I only know that he isn’t a citizen of our country.”

“As for what crime he committed and the exact location of his imprisonment… maybe Grandpa and Grandma would know.”

“But I wouldn’t advise you to ask them about it right now. They’re still basking in the happiness of having found you. If you mention that man, it will break their hearts.”

“And they might be even less likely to tell you the truth.”

“Wiona, you need to wait for the right moment.”

Wiona didn’t know how she made it back to her mother’s courtyard.

She sat stunned in the small garden, only jolted back to her senses by the babbling of the twins.

Summer and Molly watched her with concern. “Ma’am, are you alright?”

“Did something happen? You haven’t looked well since you came back. Should we call the master and ask him to come home?”

Wiona reached out and stroked her sons’ tiny hands before replying faintly, “I’m fine.”

“He’s been very busy these past few days. There’s no need to bother him with something so small.”

“You two take care of the babies. I’m going to my room to rest for a bit.”

Wiona felt truly awful. She went into her room and lay down immediately.

She didn’t realize she was running a fever, only that she was freezing cold.

On a hot summer day, she found herself shivering, pulling the quilt tightly around her body.

When lunchtime came, Molly knocked on her door repeatedly, but there was no answer. When they finally burst into the room, Wiona was already delirious.

She felt like she’d been in a daze, with no idea how much time had passed.

Looking outside, she saw the sky was already dark.

Conrad squeezed her hand tightly. “Don’t be scared. You developed a fever this morning and lost consciousness around noon.”

“Your grandparents both examined you. They said you were overwhelmed by worry and emotional shock, and the instability triggered a high fever.”

“They gave you acupuncture and some medicine. How do you feel now?”

The worry in his eyes was heavy and undisguised.

Wiona couldn't believe it. She had just wanted to lie down for a bit, and she’d ended up getting sick?

She must have scared them all terribly.

After her initial surprise, a faint smile touched her lips. “Conrad, did I scare you?”

“I’m fine.”

He brought her hand to his lips and kissed her palm.
