Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 301

Since she had invited Nathan over for dinner, Mrs. Hayes had gone all out to show off her cooking skills.

When it was time to sit, Emma usually sat across from her mother. But with Nathan there today, she instinctively turned to sit on the other side, next to her mother.

But just as she got there, her mother, who was arranging the plates, suddenly moved a bag that was on the table to the adjacent chair.

Seeing her daughter about to sit down, Karen Hayes quickly waved her off and pointed to the empty seat next to Nathan. “Don’t you usually sit on that side? Just take your regular spot!”

Emma glanced at Nathan, who was already seated, and pursed her lips. She tried to give her mom a subtle look, but it was as if her mother couldn't understand. Karen just kept urging her, “Go on, sit. This is your house, what are you being so formal for?”

Emma was speechless.

Nathan smiled, stood up, and pulled out the chair beside him, carefully placing a plate and utensils in front of it.

“Thanks…”

Emma sighed softly and resigned herself to sitting next to Nathan.

“Here, Nathan, have some more. You made this meal yourself. Oh, just look at this broth—it’s so rich and flavorful.”

Karen ladled a bowl of the dish and handed it to Nathan.

Nathan quickly stood up and took it with both hands, thanking her. “Thank you, Mrs. Hayes.”

“Don’t thank me, you’re always too polite. You come over as a guest, and you end up helping me make some food. I really didn’t expect that with you being so busy as a doctor, you’d also be such a good cook.”

Nathan was indeed good at cooking. Even Karen, a seasoned cook with decades of experience, was impressed.

Nathan smiled modestly. “It’s just a basic skill. I’m sure it doesn’t compare to yours.”
