"She corrupted my sister! Tell my sister to come out too!"
"If they don't show their faces, we're smashing this car!"
The moment the threat left his lips, a heavy brick was hurled straight at the vehicle.
Since Nathan wasn't driving an armored tank, the chassis caved instantly, leaving a massive, ugly dent.
Then, a barrage of bricks rained down on the car.
Trapped inside, Nathan and Victor watched the chaos unfold from the front row. It was terrifying.
The car simply wasn't built to withstand a siege.
Sure enough, a flying brick smashed right through the windshield.
As the glass shattered, the two men ducked instinctively, burying their heads to protect their faces.
By this time, Lillian's bodyguards had violently shoved their way through the mob, forming a protective perimeter around the vehicle. Two of them took brutal hits from the rocks, but their sole objective was extracting the two executives to a safe zone.
The bodyguards didn't waste a single second. They ripped the doors open and shielded the men.
"You people are absolute lunatics!" Nathan roared. "This is destruction of property! And since you injured people, it's aggravated assault! You're all going to prison, do you hear me? You're completely out of your minds if you think you won't rot behind bars for this!"
Victor was beyond furious. Today was supposed to be a triumphant milestone for the company, only to be hijacked by these savages.
"Save your breath, gentlemen," one of the bodyguards urged. "Ms. Mercer is very worried about your safety. Let's move."
The mob, however, had zero fear of the law.
"Prison? Prison is better than starving to death! Tell Candy to get out here and pay up!"
"And tell your boss to show her face! If she doesn't, we're torching this car!"
"Even if we go to prison, so what? Who cares!"
"Ms. Mercer, let me go out there! If you just hand me over, you'll all be safe!"
"I'm so sorry! The equipment is ruined, we have to start all over, and it's going to waste weeks of work! It's all my fault! I dragged everyone down!"
"Ms. Mercer, please, just let me go out there!"
Lillian stared at the blazing inferno, a deep, venomous hatred brewing in her chest for these leeches who fed on women's blood and sweat.
Thankfully, her people were safe.
Standing on the chair, Lillian kept her eyes locked on the fire and spoke in a chillingly calm voice. "The equipment is gone, meaning we merely lost some time."
"But if you go out there and tangle with that toxic family again, your entire life is ruined."
"Miss Bennett, I need to know—just how ruthless are you willing to be when it comes to them?"
