Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 747

"Shut up and get lost!"

"Yeah! Your boss already gave the word that she's taking care of us from now on. You're nothing!"

Lillian frowned slightly. Why did these people even exist? What a waste of perfectly good oxygen.

Victor quickly grabbed the manager and pulled him back, keeping his voice low. "Are you blind? Those whom the gods wish to destroy, they first make mad. Don't you get it?"

Nathan chimed in smoothly. "Your job right now is to calm the employees and let Ms. Mercer work.

"Ignore whatever these idiots say. They're digging their own graves.

"Do you really think Ms. Mercer is going to freely support a pack of thugs? It's a trap. She's going to handle them once and for all."

When Lillian had mentioned international travel, Nathan instantly guessed her game plan.

She was going to ship them overseas.

Once they were out of the country, she'd confiscate their passports and leave them stranded. With a little cash to grease the wheels, they'd be gone forever, unable to ever return.

However, Nathan kept those specific details to himself.

The manager finally caught on.

It made sense. Why would Lillian fund a pack of lowlifes?

They were useless and would only drain resources. No sane entrepreneur or capitalist would ever make a move like that.

Even if Celia Bennett was a rare talent, she wasn't worth bankrupting the company to retain.

After all, she wasn't entirely irreplaceable.

Relieved, the manager hurried off to pacify the workforce.

They couldn't afford to have a riot outside the gates and a mutiny inside them.

"Alright, quiet down," Lillian's voice echoed through the megaphone. "I am the majority shareholder of this company.

Celia's parents, sister, brother-in-law, brother, nieces, and nephews made up the core twenty.

The rest were distant cousins, aunts, and uncles who had tagged along. By drawing a clear line, Lillian had expertly turned them against each other.

The extended relatives began to shriek and riot.

"You can't do that! We're her family too! Why aren't you paying us?"

"Exactly! I'm her aunt! I was so good to her when she was little. Now that she's rich and independent, she's turning her back on me?"

The woman collapsed to the dirt, wailing dramatically.

Lillian didn't bat an eye. "I've prepared a flat one million dollars a month strictly for Miss Bennett's direct family. The cash is right here.

"Originally, that breaks down to fifty grand a person. If you extended relatives want a piece of the pie, the direct family will just have to take a pay cut to split it evenly.

"Why don't you all discuss how you want to divide this million dollars?"
