Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 749

Victor eagerly squeezed into Lillian's spot, hopping up onto the table next to her chair. The bodyguard holding the open suitcase of cash remained perfectly still beside them, dark sunglasses giving him a terrifyingly cool aura.

Victor pulled out his phone, snapped a quick selfie with the brawling mob in the background, and then happily began directing the fight.

Unsurprisingly, the violence escalated significantly.

Watching through the monitors, Celia remained entirely unfazed, though Emma, who had never witnessed a massive street brawl, couldn't tear her eyes away.

"Ms. Mercer really does know the best way to handle scum," Celia murmured.

Emma cast a sympathetic glance at her.

These were her parents and relatives, yet Celia could only see them as monsters.

Knowing her own flesh and blood were capable of this had to be a suffocating, agonizing reality.

The riot outside the factory gates was incredibly loud, inevitably disturbing the neighboring facilities. Someone down the street finally called the police.

However, nobody on Lillian's payroll had dialed 911, silently following her lead.

When the squad cars finally pulled up, the blaring sirens broke up the melee.

As the officers started taking statements, Lillian stayed seated, sending Emma out to handle the authorities.

As the company president, it was her domain.

The police quickly pieced together that this mob had just been released from lockup, and since this was effectively a massive domestic dispute, it put them in an awkward spot.

"Regarding the burned vehicle, do you want to press..."

Before the officer could finish, Lillian projected her voice loud and clear. "We're not pressing charges! No charges!"

Press charges? What was the point?

Could these broke thugs actually pay for the damages?

Force an apology?

"Alright! We'll give you two hundred thousand out of this batch. You all split it.

"She's our kid. You're not getting any more than that.

"And this is a one-time thing. You don't get a cut of the monthly allowance from now on.

"Take it or leave it. If you keep pushing, you get nothing."

Celia's mother chimed in. "That's right. Take the two hundred grand and go back to the village.

"We're staying in the city to live with our daughter."

The relatives immediately bristled. "Two hundred grand? There are over thirty of us! How much is that going to be after we split it? No way. We want at least five hundred thousand."

"Yeah! Half a million! You guys are getting a steady paycheck from now on, and you're demanding we go back home with scraps. We need half a million!"

Celia's father yelled back, "Half a million is too much! I'll give you ten grand a head, and that's my final offer!"
