They spent the rest of the evening happily dissecting the impending disaster of the Blake wedding.
Even as she watched Leonard take his nightly medication, Lillian couldn't wipe the smile off her face. The sheer poetic justice of Sebastian's trap was deeply satisfying.
"Still gloating over there?" Leonard teased, swallowing his pills.
"Can you blame me?" Lillian countered.
"Bella nearly killed my grandmother and cost me two years in prison. I want to watch her burn.
"And Sebastian deserves every ounce of misery coming his way.
"If they separated, they would only ruin innocent people.
"Locking them together is the most ethical outcome."
Leonard nodded in agreement. "They're a match made in hell. But speaking of marriage... has my beautiful girlfriend thought about when she's going to marry me?"
Lillian's smile faltered, a shadow of insecurity crossing her features. "I'm a divorced woman. Are you truly sure about this?"
Leonard's expression turned fiercely serious. He reached out, gripping her hands tightly. "There is no room for doubt between us. I don't care about your past. You are the only woman I want to protect, the only one I want to spend my life with.
"We deserve this happiness, Lillian."
Tears pricked her eyes as she nodded slowly. "Let me finish my current phase of treatment. Once I'm stable, we can plan the next step."
She was terrified of the upcoming second phase of her medical procedure. If something went wrong, what would happen to Leonard?
