Sebastian blocked out every word. "I haven't seen my son in a long time," he stated firmly. "I want Noah brought back home. Please make the arrangements. I'll handle the divorce, and the only woman I will ever remarry is Lillian. You don't need to worry about the details."
He pressed on, "I know I was blind regarding Bella, and I accept the blame for this disaster. But Lillian is the daughter-in-law you always wanted. I was a fool to lose her, but I swear I will win her back. Trust me."
Before Old Mrs. Blake could respond, a sharp voice echoed from the staircase landing. Old Mr. Blake had paused to listen and could no longer stomach the delusion.
"Do whatever you want," the old man snapped. "We're too old to manage your disastrous life. Just don't come crying to us when she slams the door in your face. And as for bringing Noah back? I know exactly what kind of sick game you're playing, and the answer is absolutely not!"
He glared down at his son. "You want to use your own flesh and blood as a pawn to manipulate Lillian? How selfish can you be? Noah is your son! Have you ever spent a single ounce of effort raising him? If you hadn't been such an absent failure of a father, Bella would never have been able to poison his mind and destroy his bond with his own mother! Lillian publicly disowned him because of you! Do you really think she's the same meek girl you used to push around?"
