Bella suddenly stopped crying and started to laugh. Tears still clung to her cheeks, but the expression twisting her beautiful features was sinister and terrifying. Sabrina watched her anxiously, yet felt entirely helpless. "Bella, nothing else matters. You are my precious girl. No matter what happens, you cannot hurt yourself, understand?"
"Mom, I know exactly what I want and what I need to do now better than ever before," Bella said. She roughly wiped the tear stains from her face. Turning, she walked into the bathroom, showered, changed, and freshened up her makeup. She had not been sleeping well, and it showed. She applied a heavy layer of foundation before finally stepping out.
As soon as she walked outside, she noticed all the cars in the driveway were gone. She wondered if Brandon and the Mercer men had done it on purpose. They had all left for the Mercer Group without even eating breakfast, taking every single vehicle with them.
Just as Bella was about to lose her temper, Sabrina caught up with her. "They aren't coming back for dinner anyway. Why don't you just take the grocery car? It's a bit older, but it's still a Mercedes."
Bella took a deep breath. "Enough. They have gone too far. Why is everyone trying to walk all over me?"
"How about we just buy a new one for a few thousand?" Sabrina suggested. "If it comes down to it, I'll have Martin buy it for you. They didn't even give you a decent dowry when you got married. Asking for a car now isn't exactly demanding too much."
"Relying on them is worse than relying on myself. I'll buy it," Bella said, taking another deep breath. She ordered a ride online and left.
Sabrina watched her go, helpless. She had never been able to come up with much money on her own.
