Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 970

First thing the next morning, Lillian received yet another legal notice from the Mercers, demanding eighty percent of her algorithm's shares.

Unlike the initial surge of anger, Lillian felt absolutely nothing this time. She didn't even bother walking over to the shredder, casually tossing the envelope onto her desk.

Ethan Hayes glanced at it. "Ms. Mercer, you're not going to deal with that?"

Lillian replied indifferently, "There is no point in entertaining the antics of shameless people."

Standing nearby, waiting for the morning meeting to begin, Emma Ruiz couldn't help but feel outraged on Lillian's behalf.

"Do they seriously think they can steal your algorithm? They keep firing off these legal letters like they're somehow entitled to it."

Lillian scoffed. "Sending a package is the only trick they have left. If they had a real case, they would have sued me by now and let a judge decide who owns the algorithm. The law doesn't state that just because you raised someone, you own the rights to their life's work. They know full well that a lawsuit would end with them getting absolutely nothing. So, they just keep spamming me with these letters. Leave that garbage there. When the pile gets big enough, we'll call a recycling company and sell it for scrap paper. With their level of dedication, the scrap money should be enough to buy us a soda."

Hearing Lillian's deadpan logic, Emma burst out laughing.

"Ms. Mercer, your mindset is incredible. Doesn't this get annoying, though?"

"It is annoying, but it's also hilarious," Lillian said. "Don't you guys find it funny?"

Emma thought about it and realized it was genuinely absurd. The Mercers weren't uneducated, yet they were acting completely delusional. It was baffling how their minds even worked.

Lillian clapped her hands. "Alright, ignore the circus. It's time for our morning meeting. Mr. Peregrine has been very strict about my schedule and meals lately, so I've already held you all up. From now on, don't waste any company time on these people. They aren't worth it."
