She pressed her hands together, closed her eyes to make a wish, her long, thick eyelashes fluttering slightly.
Then, she blew out the candles.
The crowd erupted into loud cheers and applause.
With Adrian's help, she cut the first slice of cake.
Standing opposite them, Janice Harper watched the scene with profound warmth. She turned to Alcott Lamont. "Adrian really is a wonderful young man. He treats her so well."
Alcott's expression was gentle as he smiled. "How does Norah feel about him?"
Janice kept her eyes on her daughter's pure, bright smile. "He's by her side every single day, and she's always so happy. I think she's falling for him."
"As long as she's happy, I have no objections," Alcott said simply.
Suddenly, Janice's thoughts drifted to Gonzalez. Back when she first realized Norah had feelings for Gonzalez, she had felt the exact same way—as long as her daughter was happy, she wouldn't stand in their way.
Unfortunately, Gonzalez's feelings for Norah hadn't been nearly as resolute.
And that hesitation had indirectly led to the horrific car crash.
A few days ago, she had spoken with Norah's doctor. Since the doctor had explained that Norah's amnesia was a psychological defense mechanism, Janice had been terrified that suppressing those memories would leave a hidden trauma or affect her emotional stability.
The doctor had advised her to talk to Norah frequently to monitor her mental state.
Janice hadn't gone on any business trips lately, pouring all her energy into her family, and everyone was showering Norah with extra love and attention.
But Norah was completely fine. Having forgotten Gonzalez entirely, she showed zero signs of distress.
Perhaps, for Norah, Gonzalez truly was just a thing of the past.
She would fall in love with Adrian and never remember the painful memories she had locked away.
