Marianne opened her eyes and looked at Martin.
She used to think he was an honest man, dedicated to supporting his older brother.
But now, she wondered what kind of treacherous ambition was hiding behind that honest facade.
"Martin, what are you trying to say?"
Marianne's voice was a little hoarse.
"I'm saying, for the good of the Clarke family, perhaps I should take over for a while?"
Martin pushed the documents in front of Marianne.
"This is a temporary authorization. If you just sign here, I can officially help my brother shoulder his burdens."
"Once Damien gets his head on straight and starts acting his age, I can always give it back to him. It's not too late then, is it?"
He made it sound so reasonable.
Give it back?
By then, the Clarke family would have long been under his sole control.
Marianne stared at the authorization form, her fingers trembling slightly.
She didn't understand business, but she knew she couldn't sign this.
But…
"Are you in such a hurry to seize power, Martin, because you're afraid you won't get another chance?"
An icy voice stopped Marianne's hand just as it was about to move.
The elevator doors opened.
Damien strode over with Felix.
Behind him were two uniformed police officers and… several lawyers in sharp suits.
When Martin saw Damien, his eyelid twitched violently.
Why was he here?
Shouldn't Ethan have taken care of things by now?
Even if he failed, Damien should be busy looking for that woman. How could he have time to come to the hospital?
"Damien, what kind of way is that to talk?"
Martin forced a smile, struggling to remain calm.
"I'm just trying to help your father out. Why must you be so difficult?"
"Help him out?"
Damien sneered and threw a thick stack of files onto the table in front of Martin.
