Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 280

“For my sake? Is that why you tried to put me in the bed of that rapist, Calder?”

“For my sake? Is that why you hired someone to take naked pictures of me?”

With each question, Grace’s tone grew colder.

Her grandfather’s face turned a livid shade of red. He glared at Grace. “What do you know! I did it to make you leave Damien!”

“What good can come from you being with him?”

“You’re a divorcée! He probably looks down on you deep down! If it weren’t for your research, why would he ever marry you?! I was helping you! I had to make you give up all hope so you could start over!”

“Start over?”

Grace let out a laugh, a laugh so sharp it almost brought tears to her eyes.

“Start over after being raped?”

“Old man, do you really think that as long as you wrap yourself in the excuse of ‘doing what’s best for me,’ you can trample all over my life?”

“Shut up!”

Her grandfather flew into a rage out of pure shame. “Do you think I wanted to be the bad guy?”

He took a deep breath, as if he had finally made a decision. “It was Martin! It was Damien’s own uncle, Martin, who came to me!”

Grace’s expression remained unchanged at the mention of the name.

“He found me before he was sent to prison and made a deal with me.”

Her grandfather’s eyes gleamed with an almost fanatical light. “He said that while Damien is ruthless, he has one fatal weakness. You, Grace.”

“As long as you leave him, as long as you hate him, Damien will lose his mind. He’ll be in pain.”

“Once a man is blinded by emotion, he shows his weaknesses. Martin said that once Damien falls, he has a way to get out and take back control of the Clarke family!”

Grace’s fingertips went numb, and an icy chill shot up her spine.

So that was it.

All the suffering she had endured was nothing more than collateral damage in a power struggle between two old men.

“What does that have to do with you hurting me?” Grace asked coldly.
