His Plump Mate (by Buchanan) novel Chapter 456

Chapter 456

Sinclair POV

I’m working on figuring out how to get information on my biological parents. I’m in the pack house library, clicking away at the laptop, scanning through all the reports. When I look at the adoption file and see my mother’s name, ‘Cherise Clay’, and my father’s name, ‘Ronan Clay’, I immediately begin searching for them.

I’m immersed in data, trying to find them. But shortly after I was put up for adoption, it was as if they had disappeared. Not a trace of them was found. I sighed, frustrated. I know I am going to need Kaia’s help. She’s great at finding people.

She saw the seal on the documents and said she would begin her search, but she has been busy with the divorce, finalizing the assets, and helping Isaiah. She’s the pack’s new beta female, and of course, she is being stretched thin, so I haven’t brought it back up to her.

“What are you doing up here by yourself?” I heard behind me.

When I looked, it was Adrian. He’s been visiting more and more lately. I usually steer clear of him. Mali looks at him intently whenever he is near. It’s unsettling for me, though.

“I’m researching,” I said, sharper than I intended it to be.

Adrian gives me a lazy smile and walks over, “Researching what?”

I clenched my fists tightly. I don’t feel like being bothered right now. I want to focus on my task, but he is… distracting. At times, he reminds me of Kaia and how she flirts with guys.

“I’m looking for my biological parents,” I said quietly. “Do you mind leaving me alone so I can focus?”

I don’t mean to be abrupt, but he is mated. He looks like Isaiah. He makes me feel guilty with Kaia, even though I know that is irrational.

“Am I really that bothersome?” He smirked.

I gave him a deadpan look, “Not normally. But right now, yes, you’re being bothersome.”

I put my headset in and focused on my laptop. I continue clicking away at the laptop and decide to hack into the county system to see what I could find. These records are really old; they may have been archived before everything was digitized.

Even though I’m focused, I feel his eyes on me. I feel him smirking at me. Why is he picking on me? I leave everyone alone around here. I wanted to be part of a pack to feel like I belong, and I do, but it’s always been hard for me to socialize with anyone. Adrian seems insistent, and I don’t think I am going to get much else done while he is staring at me.

I huffed and closed my laptop. I gathered my papers and gathered everything together. Adrian is still staring at me

…amused.

“I don’t bother you while you are working, Adrian. I would appreciate it if you did the same for me.” I said and turned on my heel to leave.

Adrian chuckled. “I didn’t even say anything, and my presence bothered you that much?”

He doesn’t understand. Growing up, everyone stared at me. Everyone mocked me. I was teased, bullied, and mistreated. It always started with staring. I don’t like people staring at me. If you look at me, then speak. Otherwise, leave me alone. Not even Kaia stares at me. She knows it makes me uncomfortable. Some behaviors

will always make me uneasy. People staring at me is one of them.

I don’t bother responding to him. I just walk out and head to my room. Once I’m there, Mali starts nagging me.

‘Why don’t you talk to him? Talk to someone. Anyone! Kaia and Thalia are not the only people in this pack, and I’m bored.’

‘I’m using this time to find my parents, Mali. I want to know where I come from, who I am, and what my family is like. I want to know if I have siblings, if I look like my mother more than my father, and a host of other questions I have lingering in my mind.’

‘What are you going to tell them about yourself, Sinclair?’ She countered. ‘You have no family, and you didn’t grow up in a loving environment. It’s not like you can tell them about pack life either. You should make friends, find hobbies, let me out for runs too, while you’re at it.’ She said.

‘You know what? You’re right, let’s go for a run.’ I said. At least that way, she will be focused on something else.
