Chapter 470
Kaia POV
“Ex-husband?” A voice from behind Paul said.
When I looked, I saw Max. My ex-father-in-law. He was always kind to me, but it’s clear he didn’t know
about the divorce.
I looked past Paul. I’ll deal with him in a minute. “Hello, Max. Or should I say, Alpha Max?”
Max pushes Paul aside and brings me in for a hug. “Kaia, it’s been a long time. What are you doing here? What’s this about ‘ex-husband”?”
I looked at Max and then at Paul. I kept my eyes on Paul, “Didn’t your son tell you? We are divorced. I also turned. I’m like you now. Isaiah is my mate, too.”
Max’s eyes widened. “Divorced? Why? What did my worthless son do, Kaia? Why didn’t you come to me?”
I looked at Max, “Your son never once treated me well. We lived like strangers. He cheated on me constantly. Not only that, but he broke my ribs and cheekbone. I caught it all on camera, and the judge was swift. I own everything now. Except for this pack. Funny how that wasn’t mentioned during the transfer of assets.”
Paul chuckled, darkly. “This pack is under trust. That’s why it wasn’t mentioned. It’s not completely in my name. That’s why Councilman Edgar is here. To transfer it back.”
I looked over at Councilman Edgar. “Hello, sir. I’m Kaia Willis. Beta of Blackstone. How are you this evening?”
The councilman’s face looks dark. “I’m disturbed by what I just heard, Beta Kaia.”
He stood up. He looks like nobility wrapped in wrinkled plastic wrap. Sophisticated yet old. He has a quality about him that suggests he comes from a line of Councilmen. His movements and discernment are a second skin to him. His aura is red in anger, but it also has a murky undertone that tells me he is worried. I wonder what he is worried about?
Isaiah stepped forward, “Alpha Paul was married to Kaia for three years, Councilman. Was it not part of the registry?”
Registry? Werewolves have registries, too?
“No. It most certainly is not.”
I pulled out my phone and showed him a copy of the divorce decree. “As you can see, we are divorced, which means we most certainly were married, Councilman,” I said, then added, “There was also a prenuptial agreement. It stated that I get all of his assets if we divorce in less than five years, and he cheats on me and abuses me. He did all of those things, as you can see from the divorce papers. So, technically, this pack should be mine as well.”1

Councilman Edgar is reviewing the divorce papers when Paul growls at me. “The asset wasn’t in my name during the divorce. Now that we are divorced, it can move back to my name.”
“When the hell did you do this, Paul?” Max growled.
“I secured my pack, Father. I knew this bitch was nothing but a gold-digger. Now she sank her teeth into another alpha, parading around as a beta,” he sneered.
Isaiah growled, but I held his arm. Councilman Edgar spoke up. “Alpha Paul is correct, Beta Kaia. He was not in possession of this asset at the time of the divorce. Technically, the pack belongs to the council.”
“Then the council can decide who to give the pack to, correct?” I asked.
He smiled and replied, “Correct.”
Aiden stepped forward, “Then Councilman Edgar, what would it take for Blackstone to absorb Ironclaw?”
“NO!” Paul screamed, and he lunged for Aiden. I am quicker, though, and drove my shoulder into his gut and knocked him down like a football player.
“Kaia!” Isaiah screamed as he rushed to me. “Are you okay?”
He is checking me over. He’s worried. Up until now, he’s never seen me unleash my skills in a real fight. If Paul wants a fight, I’ll give him one. 1
“ENOUGH!” Councilman Edgar said loudly. “Alpha Paul, control yourself.”
He snarled, understanding that he was losing control of the situation. “Ironclaw is MINE!”
Edgar’s eyes darkened. “The council decides who gets Ironclaw. Frankly, you haven’t been forthcoming. You placed yourself as unmated when you entered the trust. You lied to the council, and therefore, these
documents are fraudulent. The council has no choice but to consider Blackstone’s offer.”
I laughed wholeheartedly. “My ex-husband, you really fucked yourself over.”
“Kaia…,” Aiden said quietly, “Let’s not agitate Alpha Paul further.”
I stepped back with a gleam in my eye and a smile on my face. He thought he would get his way? After all the hell he put me through. All the cold nights, lack of warmth, abuse, infidelity, threats, insults…no… I’m taking this from him, too. He deserves nothing because he gives nothing.
Isaiah stands in front of me, shielding Paul’s murderous glare. Edgar then turns to Aiden. “Alpha Aiden, what do you offer for ownership of Ironclaw?”
“Councilman Edgar, there is a war coming. If you are willing to sit down with me, I can discuss everything in detail. I explained it to Alpha Paul before, but he refused to negotiate with me. Now I understand why.” Aiden said.
“Very well. Alpha Paul, you will sit at the table, and you will not say another word. Alpha Max will speak on behalf of Ironclaw.”
