Chapter 472
Isaiah POV
Paul is Kaia’s ex-husband. I did not see that coming. I never met the asshole until tonight. So when I saw him on the camera, I didn’t know that was who I was watching. Also, the sickening thought that my mate took on an Alpha and walked away, all to get a divorce.
If I had known, I could have helped her get around this in a different way. I didn’t know, though. I knew all about Paul, but there was no picture in the registry. I feel like I let Kaia down. I feel like I let Aiden down.
Kaia is poking the bear, though. Paul is still an Alpha. Even though she took him down with one tackle, that doesn’t mean she can truly take him on. I am mind-linking her to stand down. I’m worried that Paul could go feral. Edgar and Max are doing all they can to reel him in. His position is threatened, and he is acting like a cornered animal.
When Edgar announced dinner was over, and Paul lunged for Kaia, I made sure my fist connected with his nose. She is my mate, and now my future Luna. Fuck this asshole.
“Try to touch my Luna again, and I will not hesitate to kill you!” I snarled.
Max stood up and got between Paul and me. “Forgive my son, Alpha Isaiah. He is angry at the thought of losing Ironclaw. He isn’t thinking clearly.”
I push Kaia behind me, and Aiden stands beside me. He puts his hands on my shoulder, “Isaiah, let’s leave first. Then we can wait for Councilman Edgar’s call.”
My eyes stay locked on Paul’s, and I’m not willing to move. His wolf is trying to surface. He’s about to go feral, and that’s dangerous. I’m not willing to leave if he is going to come after us.
“Alpha Max, you need to get a handle on your son. His wolf is trying to surface. I will not hesitate to protect what is mine,” in a deathly low voice.
Max and Edgar turn and look at Paul. They are looking at me as the threat. I’m not the threat, though. I will eliminate this fucker, though.
Max’s wolf pushes forward, “Son, stand down. Don’t be impulsive.”
Edgar calls over the elite warriors he brought with him and tells them to take Paul to the dungeons until he can get his wolf under control.
Only until he was removed did I finally relent. I feel Kaia’s hand wrap around my arm. Clearly, she is nervous. She is fierce, but even she has a sense of self-preservation. I grabbed her and buried my nose in her neck, inhaling her coconut and jasmine scent, letting it settle me.
I hear Max sigh. When I bring my head up, I see sadness and regret in his eyes. Kaia is looking at Max with a slight indulgence.
“Kaia, I’m so sorry. I really thought Paul would change his ways if he had the responsibility of a family. Your father and I spoke a great deal at length, and we thought your personalities would work well

together. I am sorry I didn’t protect you better,” Max said with sadness.
Kaia smiled softly and reached out for Max’s hand. “Max, you are not to blame. Paul is to blame. Some people are just born with malice in their hearts. That doesn’t mean you did anything wrong.” 2
They hugged each other. Max turned to Edgar. “Councilman Edgar, as the acting Alpha of Ironclaw, I think it is only fitting for Blackstone to absorb Ironclaw. If you want to draw up the paperwork, I will be happy to sign over the ownership. It’s only right.”
Edgar smiled, “I will mention this to the other council members tomorrow morning. Alpha Aiden, expect a call by tomorrow afternoon.”
What. Just. Happened? Max is just giving us Ironclaw? Edgar is getting approval? I thought we were going to have a boring, diplomatic dinner, with little hope of turning the events. My clever little mate, my troublemaker, pushed the timeline all the way up to tomorrow afternoon.
“I look forward to your call tomorrow, Councilman Edgar,” Aiden said, shaking his hand, and then he shook Max’s hand. “I really tried to work honestly with your son, Alpha Max. Whatever happens, I hope you don’t hold it against Blackstone.”
Max smiled sadly, “My son has always been power-driven. He is losing everything because he couldn’t do what was right for the greater good. If this is the Moon Goddess’s will, then I will not stand in your way, Alpha Aiden.”
We head to the front of the pack house and get ready to leave. As we are walking out, a huge roar is heard from the side of the pack house. Aiden and I both react. We push Thalia and Kaia back into the pack house in time to see Paul’s wolf. He’s gone feral. His eyes are looking straight at Kaia.
Storn takes over and pulls the shift. Leon pulls the shift too, but Storn doesn’t wait.
‘I’m taking this asshole down. He hurt our mate and is now targeting her.’ Storn snarled.
Paul snaps his jaw at Storn, and the battle begins. We’re not letting him anywhere near our mate. Paul leaps towards us and swipes at Storn’s shoulder. Storn swipes at Paul’s face, and a gash appears.
He snarls, and out of the corner of my eye, I see Leon. He is snarling but holding back. He knows this is between Paul and me. I’m taking this fucker down myself. Storn keeps himself planted between Kaia and Paul. He is not letting him get past us.
We continue fighting, and then Paul finally slips. He leaves an opening on his back leg, and Storn takes it. He pulled at his leg until I heard his joint pop out of the socket. Paul howls in pain and then starts limping as he whimpers.
It’s only a few seconds, but it’s enough time for Storn to inflict serious damage on him. He is swiping, biting, breaking bones, and gushing blood. He is a bloody mess, and he has shifted back to human form.
Storn has stepped back and given me control. Once we pulled the shift and I had control, I towered over Paul. He is shaking on the ground in pain. Max is standing close by with unshed tears in his eyes. It is his only son, and that is why I haven’t killed him.

“I’m showing your father mercy by allowing you to live. Come after what’s mine again, and I will kill you,” I said.
Kaia runs up to me and throws herself at me. There are tears in her eyes. “Are you okay? Are
I smiled at her. “Are you worried about me?”
