His Plump Mate (by Buchanan) novel Chapter 473

Chapter 473

Isaiah POV

I feel Kaia’s anxiousness in our bond. She is trying hard to rein in her emotions. I am not used to seeing her this emotional over me. It feels good but foreign. I’m used to her snarky attitude and laughter. I don’t like seeing her cry for me.

I hold her close, even though I am a mess. Aiden walks over to me and slaps my shoulder, “I guess Ironclaw is yours now.”

I looked up, “What?”

“You just defeated the Alpha. Max was a stand-in, but Paul is still on the registry. You just defeated the Alpha; by default, you are the new Alpha, Isaiah. Edgar witnessed and recorded it on his phone,” Aiden replied.

Thalia steps forward, as do Max and Edgar. Edgar signaled for the guards to take Paul to the dungeon medic room and have him restrained with silver until the pack doctor could treat him.

Edgar then turns to me. “Congratulations, Alpha Isaiah. You are the new Alpha of Ironclaw. Congratulations to you as well, Luna Kaia.”

Kaia’s eyes went wide, and my jaw dropped. I was only thinking about keeping Kaia safe. It didn’t occur to me that by defeating Paul, I would become the Alpha. Thalia starts jumping with Kaia, acting the way women do when they are excited.

Aiden is chuckling, and I am trying to pick my brain off the floor and put it back in my head. I’m the new alpha. Me? I mean, I know I was born an Alpha, but I never thought I would lead a pack.

“Wait until we tell Mom and Dad,” Aiden said, while he handed me some shorts.

Thalia spoke up next, “The Moon Goddess did say she would set up the circumstances for the merger to happen. She really is full of surprises.”

Max looks sad. I walk over to him. “Alpha Max, I’m sorry. I really am. I couldn’t let him get near my mate.”

Max extended his hand to shake mine. I took it, and he simply said, “You fought and won fairly, Alpha Isaiah. My son is a fool. He had a good woman by his side. I’m glad she is with you now. I am thankful that you didn’t kill him, though. He is my only son. I don’t have any other family.”

Kaia came up from behind me and hugged my side. I tucked her in my side, and she spoke, “Max, you are family to me. You were always kind to me. To me, you are another father figure. You will always be welcome in our home.”

After we said our parting words, we loaded into the SUV. Edgar will be at Blackstone tomorrow to sign everything over to me, and then I need a transition plan. Aiden is going to need another beta, and I am going to need a ranked team. I need to ask Aiden for help with that. Maybe I can ask Sinclair and Rodrigo to come with me. They both are being threatened, and if we move their location, perhaps it will buy us some time.

I know I am going to have to look at the warriors, tour the pack, and review finances. It’s not like I have been trained to run a pack, but it’s different when you actually have to do it. Plus, now, I really need to talk to Kaia and see how she is feeling. She is still anxious.

Once we get to the pack house, Mom and Dad are waiting for us. Jonah and Nala are there, and Rory is back from visiting with Reid. Once we get out of the SUV, all eyes are on me. I’m still a mess, and I’m only

in shorts. 1

Dad is the first one to react, “What happened?”

Aiden is smiling widely and doesn’t bother messing with the family. “Turns out Paul is Kaia’s ex- husband. He tried going after her, and Isaiah here….KICKED. HIS. ASS.”

Mom was the first one to react, “Wait…That is a loaded statement. Does that mean that Isaiah is now the Alpha of Ironclaw?”

Aiden answers, “Sure does. Kaia pushed all the right buttons with Paul. He went feral. Isaiah kicked his ass, and Councilman Edgar was there to witness and record the fight. Isaiah is now Alpha of Ironclaw.”

Aiden’s chest is puffed up, and he looks fucking proud of me. Rory jumps and squashes her body against mine to hug me and then congratulates me. Then Mom and Dad followed. Everyone is congratulating me, and when they are done, they are congratulating Kaia.

“Why didn’t you say that Paul was your ex-husband before?” Rory asked.

Kaia shrugged, “I didn’t know. Honestly, until tonight, I had no idea he was an alpha or that he led a pack. The most I ever saw him was at family events back home.” 2

“It’s late, and we didn’t actually eat,” Aiden said. “I need to make sure Thalia has food. Especially since she is carrying my pup.”
