Thalia POV
I lower the window in the truck. We are not far from the junction, and we have been driving for an hour and a half. Aiden has covered a lot of ground quickly. He can sense I’m worried about Mia. She is pregnant with my nephew too, and I hope they are both okay.
Luca calls me, and he is even more frantic. I put him on speakerphone. “Luca, what happened?”
“We found a green van by the road. I found Mia’s earring on the ground. She was here, but they must have switched vehicles,” he said, his voice tight with worry.
“Fuck,” Aiden said. “Call Enzo. Ask if there are other types of vehicles used.”
I searched his contacts and found Enzo. I dialed the number, and when he answered, I asked, “Enzo, this is Thalia. The rogues switched vehicles. What else would they be driving?”
“They switched? Shit. Uh, Luna, I’m sorry, but they never switched when I was with them.”
This cannot be happening. Not to my sister. She has never done anything to anyone. She doesn’t know the first thing about defending herself either.
I hang up with Enzo, and I start biting my nails, thinking. “If they had her in a van, then more than one rogue is traveling with her. Which means they could have swapped for another van or an SUV,” I suggested.
“Potentially. Unless they wanted to break the group into two groups or put your sister in a trunk,” Aiden said.
I growled, “If she is in a trunk, I am killing those bastards. Nobody lives.”
Aiden reached for my hand. “Mojito, we are going to find her and get her back home.”
I squeezed his hand and willed myself to calm down. This can’t be good for our boys either. I closed my eyes and took deep breaths. We continued going down the road, and thirty minutes later, I decided to open my mind to everything around me, so I could keep calm.
Aiden is still holding my hand and pushing calm through our bond. He knows that I love my sister. I’ve always had the need to protect her, and I wasn’t there to protect her this time. Protective measures were taken as well, but it wasn’t enough.
I need to remember to call abuelo back after we find Mia. I need to know what happened. I want Heath’s pack leveled, and I know that he and Tio Valeno can do it.
‘What am I going to do? This rogue is the only one I think I can persuade. I wish Thalia was here. She would know what to do,’ I heard. It was Mia’s voice.
“Aiden, I hear Mia!” I said frantically, looking around. “She’s close.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes. I heard her thoughts. She’s nearby.”
“Do you think you can reach her?”
“No. We don’t have a pack link to each other.”
‘Maybe I can offer him a spot as a warrior, in exchange for his help. I will convince Luca, and then we will be able to learn some of the rogue techniques,’ Mia said.
“She is trying to convince one of the rogues to help her!” I said. I looked around, and I saw two vans. A white one and a blue one.
“Aiden, slow down. I want to see who’s driving.”
Aiden slowed the truck down, and the white van only had a driver. There is a logo on the side indicating it’s a plumbing company. That one isn’t it.
I looked at the blue van, and there are two men sitting in the front seat. They both look questionable, but my doubt is removed when we pass them. My window is still down, and the stench of rogues wafts by my window, making me nauseous.
“The blue van! Those are rogues, Aiden. Turn around, quickly!” I said.
Aiden shifts gears and makes a sharp U-Turn. I called Luca, “I have eyes on two rogues driving a blue van. I also heard Mia’s thoughts. There is a rogue in the back with her that she is trying to convince to help her escape.”
I hung up immediately and looked at Aiden, “Cut those assholes off, guapo.”
