I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 322

I froze for a good ten seconds. When his words finally registered, an indescribable rage shot through me, and I swung my hand, slapping him hard across the face, twice.

I used to think Steven was just ruthless—that he’d disregard his own wife and cast aside all affection for Verna. But back then, I was the one who refused to divorce him, the one standing in his way. I figured I deserved whatever he dished out.

This time, however, I’d done nothing to wrong him. I wasn’t blocking his path to his true love. When Horace had his near-fatal accident, I had no choice but to beg Steven for help. It wasn’t a freebie; I’d offered to trade for it. He was the one who demanded my body, and I gave it to him. I never imagined he would use it as a weapon to humiliate me.

Bright red handprints blossomed on both of his cheeks. A terrifying light gleamed in his eyes, but as he looked at me, his expression softened slightly. His lips parted.

“I didn’t mean to belittle you. I just think it’s too soon for you to be thinking about remarrying…”

For the first time, my eyes turned crimson with pure, unadulterated fury. I was too angry to speak, too angry to listen. I wrenched away, grabbed my suitcase, and started walking again.

“Zephyra, stop.”

Steven’s voice followed me, but I didn’t slow down. When he grabbed my arm again, I spun around and started beating him with my purse, kicking and hitting him with everything I had.

“Steven, you’re the worst luck I’ve ever had! You tormented me when I wouldn’t let you go, and you torment me now that I have! You just can’t leave me alone, can you?”

He was the one who betrayed me in our last life. Shouldn’t the tables have turned by now? Shouldn’t this be my chance to make him suffer?

Steven’s tall, powerful body closed in, wrapping around me and holding my slender frame in a crushing embrace. “Zephyra.”

He tried to say something, but his handsome brow suddenly furrowed in pain. He released me, clutching his head.

“Zephyra, my head…”

Ha!

As if I’d fall for that. I hadn’t even hit his head.

Without mercy, I swung my purse and smacked him squarely on the head. He paled, stumbling back against the wall, and I laughed coldly.

“Hurts? Isn’t your precious Verna a doctor? Tell her to take a good look at your brain. Steven, I sincerely hope we never see each other again.”
