I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 324

I bolted upright, drenched in a cold sweat. I gasped for air, my heart pounding, before slumping back against the airplane seat, completely unnerved.

Another dream of that miserable past.

I subconsciously placed a hand on my flat stomach. A chill ran through me, followed by a wave of guilt. “It’s over, Zephyra,” I whispered to myself with a bitter smile. “It’s all in the past.”

In this life, Horace didn’t die for me. I had a chance to make things right with him.

But the child…

I closed my eyes, my heart heavy. It just wasn’t meant to be.

And I would never have another.

The plane landed at five. I must have caught a chill on the flight, because I couldn’t stop sneezing. I wanted to rest, but I was on a tight schedule, so I hurried off with my suitcase and headed straight for Horace’s agency.

I arrived right on time. I was shown to a conference room, but the people from Horace’s show kept me waiting. After nearly an hour, a woman finally entered.

Her eyes lit up when she saw me, her gaze sweeping over me with open appreciation. “I’m so sorry for the delay,” she said with a smile. “We’ve been in back-to-back meetings. Are you hungry? We could grab a bite while we talk.”

“It’s fine, I’m not hungry,” I said, setting down my purse.

“Alright, then let’s get right to it. You can call me Fiona. I’m Horace’s handler; I manage all his affairs.”

I looked her in the eye and got straight to the point. “Hello, Fiona. I’m Zephyra. My friend Rachel probably told you what I’m hoping to accomplish. I want to make sure Horace can finish the competition. What will it take to make that happen?”

Fiona’s smile faded, replaced by a troubled sigh. “I know you and Horace are very close friends. Frankly, he’s my favorite contestant too. He has the talent, the popularity, the looks—he’s the whole package. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a newcomer with his potential. If everything had gone smoothly, he would’ve won, and I guarantee you he’d be a superstar. But then the accident happened.”
