I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 330

I felt a light, tickling sensation on my cheek. He was gently stroking my face, his touch soft, but his voice held a barely concealed edge of malice.

“Zephyra, I had a dream that we had a child, but we lost him because of Horace.”

“I keep thinking the dream is a premonition, but the you in my dream is so different from the you in reality. The timeline doesn’t match. Is there something wrong with the dream, or is there something wrong with… you?”

I didn’t quite catch the words. My mind was a thick fog as I finally succumbed to sleep.

The next day, the sky was a gloomy, overcast grey.

I was woken by a loud knocking at the door and someone shouting, “Are you in there?”

My throat was raw, my head still fuzzy. I stumbled out of bed on pure instinct and opened the door.

Ryan stood there, grinning. “Ta-da! I’m here to take you home!”

His smile vanished as he saw me. My face was flushed, my appearance haggard. “Whoa, you look terrible,” he said, his voice laced with concern. “Are you sick?”

“I think I have the flu,” I rasped, coughing. “You should probably put on a mask. I don’t want you to catch it.”

Ryan obediently put on a mask.

I staggered back to bed. My head was still spinning, but I felt slightly better than the night before. At least the chills and hot flashes were gone.

“What are you doing here so early?” I asked.

“I wanted to get you home as soon as possible! My brother’s place is incredible. It’s this huge estate with a massive rose garden.” Ryan touched my forehead. “You’re definitely running a fever. I can take you to the hospital, or we can go home and have my brother call a doctor to come to you.”

I didn’t have the energy to move. I briefly considered visiting Horace, but going to a hospital with the flu was a terrible idea. The best thing I could do was quarantine myself for a few days so I didn’t infect anyone else.
