I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 412

My feet froze. It felt as if my brain had just short-circuited. My eyes shot toward Mrs. Lancaster.

“Who? Who’s marrying your son?”

The granddaughter of the Lopez family? That’s me. I went to the hospital yesterday and laid into Steven. When did I ever say I wouldn't marry anyone but him?

Seeing my emotional reaction, Mrs. Lancaster seemed to think she had successfully provoked me. She sneered, “Why are you asking so many questions? Are you still trying to cling to my son? Let me tell you, even if the young lady from the Lopez family agrees, I won’t!”

“I’ll announce their engagement at the old man's birthday banquet. Don't you even think about sabotaging it. Stay away from my son!”

The other woman backed her up, and Oliver, assuming I was still hung up on Steven after the divorce, whispered to me, “Don’t be sad, Ms. Jones. It's perfectly normal for people to remarry. Mr. Lancaster is getting married, and you can too. You could marry me right now.”

“Don't make things more complicated,” I said, pushing Oliver aside without taking his offer seriously. I turned to Mrs. Lancaster. “I never agreed to marry Steven. Where did you hear that rumor?”

Oliver’s smile suddenly vanished. His eyes widened as he stared at me, stunned.

“Ms. Jones, could you be...?” he murmured to himself. “No wonder that guy from earlier looked familiar. He’s from the Lopez family...”

Mrs. Lancaster paused for a second, then burst out laughing. “Hilarious,” she sneered. “Who do you think you are? Does my son need your permission to get married? You’re just his ex-wife.”

Her friend acted as if she'd heard the joke of the century. “Oh, my, she still thinks she’s Mrs. Lancaster. Still trying to control him, seriously?”
