I got out of the car, bag in hand, and went through the VIP entrance. Glancing to the side, I saw fans screaming wildly, their faces painted with colorful designs in tribute to their idols.
Horace’s fans were especially loud; I could hear their cheers clearly even from a distance.
I smiled. Horace really did have a legion of fangirls.
He was a rising star, right? Pop idols weren't supposed to have girlfriends, were they? Or if they did, they had to keep it secret, otherwise, a lot of fans would leave.
I went straight backstage and took out my phone to contact Horace, but I noticed that Rachel had called me a while ago and sent several messages. One voice message was from forty minutes ago, and the other three were more recent.
I thought she was trying to meet up with me, so I played the message.
“Zephyra, I’m still in Ixia. I have to rush to a partnership meeting and couldn't get the day off. I'm afraid I won't make it to Horace's competition today. I'll be there for his finals, though.”
So Rachel wasn't coming.
I felt a pang of disappointment as the next voice message started playing automatically.
“Zephyra, why aren't you answering your phone? I’ve called you several times. I... I went with Hugh today to discuss a partnership with your ex-husband, and I think I said something I shouldn't have.”
