Two men stood in the doorway. Steven was dressed in a simple white shirt and black trousers, the collar slightly open. Over it, he wore a long black coat that looked both sharp and relaxed. His expression, however, was stern, giving him a hard edge.

Gordon, a head shorter, stood behind him with a solemn look on his face.

My teammates were stunned. “No way! The head of Aether Studio actually came! Megan has some serious connections to get a titan like him here. Unbelievable!”

“Mr. Lancaster, what an honor! We should have met you at the door!” Everyone scrambled to their feet to greet him, especially Zachary and Mr. Lee, who had been so aloof just moments before. Now, their smiles were the most eager of all.

Megan’s eyes sparkled as she tossed her carefully styled hair and gazed intently at Steven.

Only I remained in my seat, my brow furrowed. I truly hadn’t expected him to come. Even if Aether Studio was scouting for talent, they didn’t need to stoop to this level. Steven had been in a car crash, but he hadn't fallen that far.

Steven was looking at me too. Our eyes met for a moment. The man who was always so cool and aloof, his face a mask of frost, slowly narrowed his eyes. He exchanged a few pleasantries with the others in his typically condescending way, and then, he sat down in the empty seat right next to me.

My mind went blank, and my expression soured. What was Steven doing sitting beside me?

Zachary’s face paled in alarm. “Mr. Lancaster, you can’t sit there! You should be at the head of the table!”

Steven, who had a faint scar on his forehead, replied coolly, “This is fine.”

Gordon gave me a furtive glance and cleared his throat. “Everyone, please, don’t be so formal. Mr. Lancaster doesn’t care about these things. Please, sit.”

With that, Gordon took the seat next to Steven. The others exchanged hesitant looks and sat down as well, though no one dared to take the seat at the head of the table.

Megan was sitting on my other side, and she leaned in to whisper excitedly in my ear.
