I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 464

My expression darkened instantly. “He’s your client. This just happened. Is it necessary to be so pessimistic? Do you not know what kind of person he is behind the scenes? What we should be doing right now is getting him a lawyer and handling the PR, not kicking him while he’s down.”

I refused to believe Horace had committed a crime. For one thing, he had spent years abroad for medical treatment, confined to a hospital. Not two months after returning, he was in a car accident. He's always had trouble walking, so where would he even find the opportunity to solicit prostitutes?

Furthermore, he had put so much effort into preparing for his debut. As a singer-songwriter, he naturally spent much more time and energy than other contestants. Where would he find the time for any of that?

Everyone else could get swept up in the narrative, but his agent and I absolutely could not.

His agent was silent for a moment before saying, “I’m just anxious. I spoke out of turn. He's at the peak of his popularity, but things keep going wrong. He’s a great cash cow, but if he really broke the law, I’ll be in a tough spot. The entertainment industry has no tolerance for artists with major scandals.”

“He didn't break the law,” I said firmly.

The agent sighed. “Horace is absolutely devoted to you; he genuinely likes you. This solicitation charge is the worst possible accusation, but it’s never going to stick. However, since he’s so successful in the entertainment industry, you shouldn't think he's naive.”

“Forget it, why am I even telling you this? I’ll find him a lawyer first and see what the company says. For now, don’t do anything rash. Watch what you say and do, and wait for my call.”

With that, he hung up.

I stopped in my tracks. My features were cold and expressionless, my long hair falling to obscure half my face. I gripped my phone, staring down at the dark screen and taking a deep breath.

Everything he said implied Horace wasn’t simple. But what did that have to do with breaking the law? If a person was too naive, they’d get eaten alive.

I didn’t care if Horace was cunning. In fact, I was more worried that his tactics weren't sharp enough, that he couldn't outplay others.

Horace's trouble had erupted so fast and fiercely. On the way back to the hotel, I kept scrolling through news about him as the public outcry grew more intense. Someone had even snapped a photo of him being escorted away by the police, which gave me a pounding headache.
