I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 571

I turned to leave, but Verna called out desperately from behind me, “Zephyra, if you hurt Mr. Lancaster, I will never let you go! And if you knew the whole truth, you would regret hurting him too!”

My expression remained cold.

After learning yesterday that my brother’s trouble was related to Steven, my only fear was that I had been too soft on him.

Regret hurting Steven? Ha, never!

Steven was incredibly busy. He had put his overseas projects on hold and was swamped with meetings, reports, and scheduling from the moment he got to the office. Even after canceling numerous appointments, he was so swamped he couldn't even squeeze in time for lunch with me.

This was a critical time for the company. They were trying to pull off something big, and everyone was on edge.

Yves was too.

His desk was often empty, and he had taken the bidding proposal with him, leaving me with no way to find it.

Three in the afternoon.

By the time Yves finished his meeting, I had already sketched and crumpled up a pile of designs. When he noticed them, he looked surprised. “Ma’am, are you throwing all these out? They look pretty good.”

My gaze flickered to the file in his hand. “I don’t think they’re very good. Too generic. I heard Mr. James once sold a design for tens of millions at Aether Studio. He must be brilliant. Could you give me some pointers?”

Yves looked a bit sheepish. “You’re too modest. Gordon already told me you won first place in Aether Studio’s design competition and were in the top ten of the Nova Challenge. Your skill is probably even higher than that. How could I possibly give you pointers? But if you’ve hit a block, I can help you analyze it.”

I nodded. He placed the file on my desk and began smoothing out my crumpled designs one by one, lamenting what a waste they were. He asked if he could have them to show the design department for reference if I was really done with them.

I nodded again, and Yves beamed as if he had struck gold.
