I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 584

I shot Noah a sideways glance.

“Even a fallen giant is still a giant. I’m not trying to praise Steven, but he’s incredibly capable. Instead of working hard to crush him completely, you want me to go taunt him about his feelings? That’s useless and just invites more trouble. Have you lost your mind?”

“Don’t forget, we’re in the same boat right now. If Steven manages to recover, I’ll be finished, and so will you.”

If I weren't certain that the Brooks family was Steven's sworn enemy, a rival of many years, I would find it hard to trust that Noah truly had the ability to take him down. Look at his nonchalant attitude; anyone would think he was unreliable.

If he underestimated Steven like this, thinking victory was already secured, then a comeback for Steven wouldn't be surprising at all.

“You are quite cautious, aren’t you? Just as expected of Mrs. Lancaster,” Noah raised an eyebrow, his handsome face still wearing a lazy, carefree smile.

“Relax. I wouldn’t dare underestimate anyone in this life, least of all Mr. Lancaster. But betrayal from the one closest to you isn't so easy to overcome. Besides, I'm no pushover. You’ve handed me a golden opportunity, and I intend to make the most of it. Where to? I’ll give you a ride.”

I watched the scenery recede outside the window. I should have felt a sense of finality, but my mind was anything but calm.

Could Steven really be brought down? It all felt so surreal.

“Home.”

On the way to the airport, I told Noah about the tracking device on my phone. He helped me deal with it, looking a little surprised.

“He installed some kind of virus. It must have taken at least two months to develop. It can only track your location, not eavesdrop. Tsk, tsk... what a gentle approach.”
