I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 851

As she said this, Rachel’s voice trailed off. I turned to look at her and saw she had already fallen asleep.

I had to admit, her ability to sleep anywhere was enviable. Listening to the sound of her steady breathing, I closed my eyes as well.

I was jolted awake the next morning by the sound of a key in the lock. It wasn’t loud, but after last night’s events, my nerves were frayed, and I had only been half-asleep.

Before the door even opened, I was wide awake. I quickly shook Rachel, and we pulled our coats tight, staring warily at the entrance.

The door swung open slowly. The burly man from yesterday was back, a bandage wrapped around his head, carrying food just like before. The only difference was that his lecherous gaze had been replaced by a hostile glare.

He threw the bowls of food onto the floor. Broth splashed everywhere, and some of the ramen noodles hung over the side of the bowls, a few even touching the ground.

Rachel was still fuming from the night before, and her temper flared instantly.

“This is all dirty! How are we supposed to eat this?”

The man gave a sleazy grin. “Eat it or don’t. If you don’t, you can starve. There’s no milk for you two today.”

Rachel started to lunge at him, but I held her back.

He was the type to prey on the weak. The angrier you got, the more he enjoyed it. The best way to handle him was to ignore him; without an audience, he’d get bored and leave.

Seeing our inaction, the man laughed boisterously. “What, you want to hit me again? Go ahead. It was dark last night, you got lucky. Let’s see whose head gets cracked open tonight.”

I held onto Rachel, trying to calm her down. When we continued to ignore him, he kicked one of the ramen bowls. “Enjoy the view of the world while you can. You might not be seeing it for much longer.”

With that, he laughed again and left the room.
