Benjamin and Amelia didn’t dare let Nina be taken to play by anyone else anymore-not even Daniel.

Daniel didn’t argue with their decision. He just nodded, with a tissue up his nose.

He had caught the cold, too.

While Nina wasn’t getting better, the two grown men, Daniel and Erik, hadn’t escaped catching it either.

But Daniel wasn’t as difficult as Nina-he knew to take his medicine.

Daniel took care of himself when he was ill, but when Nina got sick, she only made things hard for the adults.

And it wasn’t just the adults she troubled; Nina suffered herself plenty.

Taking her nap, she hadn’t slept long before her nose got stuffed up again, making it hard to breathe.

Unable to breathe, Nina first tried sniffling.

When that didn’t work, she started crying again with her eyes closed.

Benjamin had developed a reflex by now upon hearing her cry.

He picked Nina up, patting her back to soothe her.

Amelia also grabbed a tissue to wipe her nose.

Despite their efforts, Nina couldn’t fall back asleep.

She woke up gasping because her nose was stuffy.

Sleep-deprived and breathless, Nina cried in Benjamin’s arms, “Daddy, I feel bad.”

She couldn’t explain exactly where she felt bad, but she just kept crying and saying that.

Hearing this, Amelia felt tears welling up.

In just these few short days, Nina’s chubby little face seemed to have thinned out a bit.

Amelia’s heart ached terribly for her.

His question was a bit too broad.

Amelia tried a different approach patiently. “Nina, can you tell me everything you ate yesterday?”

Nina leaned her little head against Benjamin, sniffling as she listed things off for Amelia.

“Me eat meat. Meatball. Apple. Nana. Shwimp. O-wange Nina counted them off seriously, and Benjamin’s face visibly darkened.

Nina always called a banana “nana.”

Fruits like apples, bananas, and oranges… Amelia was certain they absolutely didn’t have any at home.

Yet Nina had still eaten them.

Suppressing her emotions, Amelia continued in a light tone, “Wow, Nina ate a banana? Can I have one, too? I really want one.”

Seeing Amelia wanted some, Nina looked down at her own chubby hands.

“No have.” Nina showed her empty hands to Mommy. “Mina no have.”

Hearing this, Amelia sighed, “Nina has no nana left? Oh no, then Nina and I can’t have any.”

Nina, hearing Amelia sigh, pointed her chubby little finger at the door. “Mommy, go out. Find un-coo. Un- coo buy.”

Nina finally gave up her secret source.

Amelia pressed further, “Nina, which uncle do we find?”

Nina declared loudly, “Brian!”

She had kept the secret for days and finally couldn’t hold it in anymore.

Seeing her give up Brian’s name, Amelia was furious.

She had met Brian, too.

He was younger than her, and he certainly knew how to alk.

And he seemed quite attentive when taking care of Chloe.

Amelia truly hadn’t guessed he would secretly feed Nin inappropriate things.

She had identified the culprit, but since this person had connection with Chloe, she couldn’t just come out and say something.

Amelia just took Nina from Benjamin’s arms and took her to play separately.
