After Amelia saw her finger, Nina showed it to everyone in the house, and both dogs once they got home.

The two dogs were busy eating.

Tomorrow was an important day-Barry was finally coming home from the hospital.

He just needed to rest at home for a while to get better.

Amelia was going to take Nina over for a meal, but she didn’t dare mention Barry ahead of time.

She knew Nina would demand to go see him right away if she found out.

Nina said, “Mommy, go Grandma.”

She had already called Jane, but she still wanted to go over.

Amelia didn’t budge. “Nina, if you insist on going out, we can only go to Sunbeam Daycare. No other places.”

The threat of daycare made Nina behave immediately.

Nina said, “Mommy, food.”

She dropped the going-out topic and asked for a snack instead.

Amelia could tell she was just saving face. “Let Mommy feel your tummy.”

She walked over and touched Nina’s stomach.

It wasn’t empty at all-she wasn’t hungry.

But Amelia still gave her a small packaged cookie anyway.

“I could’ve fixed it if you’d slapped Hugh, even.

“But you had to mess with Benjamin.”

Donna stared at her, stunned.

By the time she’d arrived at the hospital, she’d learned who Benjamin really was-the head of the Graham family.

He was extremely powerful, but he was friends with Hugh.

Donna thought the Riley family, who’d always been kind to Lorna, could calm him down even if he was angry.

But Lorna was acting way too panicked.

She was normally calm and in control, never flustered by anything.

Donna stood there, confused, and asked, “Is Benjamin really that dangerous?”

Lorna took a deep breath and didn’t want to say another word to her.
