“My mom didn’t fight back-not because she was afraid of you, but because there were pups in that den who still needed to be fed. My sisters-in-law didn’t dare cry, because their tears would’ve told the children that their fathers were never coming home.”

I looked at her.

“And you waited until the Conlays were at their weakest and personally delivered that curse to our door.”

“Fuck! Laila!” Estelle’s chest heaved. “What right do you have to lecture me? You’re not even a pack Alpha, and I am a princess of the Rydar Kingdom, Luna of Frostfang Pack! How dare you!”

“Why wouldn’t I?”

My voice didn’t rise, but it was colder than any shout. “You sit on a throne of royal blood, fed and sheltered by every major pack, sipping your moon-honey tea and nibbling candied rock berries-and you use those blessings to forge chains around the neck of a warrior’s widow. You’re lower than a Rogue-at least a Rogue doesn’t feast on the remains of its own kind’s orphans.”

I opened the laurel-wood box.

The pair of white jade fangs lay nestled in their silver chains, luminous and flawless, each vein catching the light in a soft glow that only made them more nauseating.

Without a second’s hesitation, I flipped the box upside down.

The jade struck the floor. The silver snapped.

The sharp crack rang out like a judgment finally handed down by the Moon Goddess.

I didn’t look at her again. I turned and kicked the freshly closed doors wide open.

The guard captain and his wolves were still posted outside. The moment I appeared, they dropped into a crouch, claws half-out.

I didn’t slow down. I walked straight through the gaps in their formation.

Not a single wolf dared to lunge.

They could smell the killing intent still rolling off me.

After a few steps, I stopped and turned my head.

“Estelle.”

My voice wasn’t loud, but every wolf there heard it clearly. “Remember what I said today.”

I held her gaze. Word by word.

“I will watch you the way a wolf watches its prey. Every weakness you expose-my fangs will find it.

“The knife you drove into my mother’s heart-I will return it. Personally. One cut at a time.”

I turned away and disappeared into the shadows of the colonnade.

Behind me, from deep inside the Moon Pavilion, came the sharp crack of shattering porcelain.

“I’m going to kill her!”

“We can’t, Luna-she’s Prince Vance’s future mate. We can’t touch her-”

“Fuck, fuck, fuck!”

Third-person POV:

After Laila left, Estelle nearly fainted from rage.

In her entire life, she had only suffered one true humiliation-falling for Kain and being rejected without mercy.

pup,

Even when she’d thrown away her own reputation and claimed she was carrying his he hadn’t softened by a fraction.

If anything, he’d grown colder.

She truly despised them.

She was the most distinguished princess in the Rydar Kingdom-what couldn’t she have?
