Chapter 15 Her Fortune Must Stay

Laila’s POV:

The next day at noon, the Elder Council meeting was about to begin.

Pearl grabbed my hand and asked worriedly, “Ms. Conlay, everything will go smoothly, right?”

“Yes.” I gave her a reassuring smile. “Don’t worry. Holt won’t take my money. Just stay here and finish packing. Once the mate bond is dissolved, I’ll come back for you and we’ll leave together.”

“Alright, Ms. Conlay. I’ll be waiting for you!”

Pearl nodded firmly.

I turned and headed toward the Elder Council hall on the west side.

The sun was bright along the way, and the air carried a sweet, fresh scent. I suddenly remembered that when I was little, I had visited the Ironclaw Pack with my father. We had run into Holt back then. He was only 12 years old, but already a promising young warrior.
