Chapter 28 Going to the Battlefield Myself

Laila’s POV:

“Nita, this is already the eighth male you’ve had a ‘feeling’ about…”

Before this, she had even suggested that Shane and Tracy might be my future mates.

I was a bit exasperated, but Nita showed no embarrassment.

She licked her paw lazily. “So what? We’re this powerful. We deserve only the best male or female to match us, not some useless pretty boy like Holt.”

Nita had never thought much of Holt, even though he was the fated mate the Moon Goddess had given us.

I let out a sigh, and Nita immediately protested. No, no, no! Don’t sigh, Laila! I’m not wrong! Until the Moon Goddess grants us a second chance, any powerful werewolf could be our future mate!”

After a pause, Nita continued, “If the Alpha King didn’t already have a mate, I’d say he should be ours. Laila, we’re this strong. We should be the Luna of the Rydar Kingdom.”

I was speechless. “Please stop saying things like that.”

I completely tuned Nita out and stared at Tracy’s letter in a daze for a while.

Her intelligence was never wrong. That meant the situation at Vagen was about to become extremely dangerous. If the Royal Court didn’t send reinforcements, Samuel might die on that battlefield. And all those soldiers would never make it home to see their families again.

I couldn’t pretend I didn’t know. Besides, reclaiming Vagen had always been my father’s and brothers’ dream.

I had to go to the battlefield myself.

But before that, I needed the Alpha King’s support.

Early the next morning, I shifted into my wolf form and sprinted from the Silvermoon Pack to the Royal Court.

This audience went smoothly. Within half an hour, I was standing before the Alpha King.

He sat on his throne as always, his expression cold.

“So handsome.” Nita whistled inside my mind. “No wonder he’s one of our mate candidates.”

outrageous.

I shook my head and explained, “I’ve already disolved my mate bond with Holt. From now on, we’re strangers. I won’t shed another tear over him. I was crying because I received a letter from a senior of mine. I learned that Damon died in battle, Clive lost an arm, and my grandfather took an arrow wound that still hasnt fully healed.”

Naturally, I wouldn’t mention that I had learned all this by sneaking into the military archives.

The Alpha King paused, then slowly sighed. “I had intended to keep this from you. After all, your family was only massacred six months ago Laila, Damon gave his life for our kingdom. He was a hero of Rydar Kingdom. I have posthumously awarded him the title of Valiant General. Please don’t grieve too much. It will only hurt your health.”

I forced my tears back. “I understand, Your Majesty. They were soldiers, just like my father and brothers. When the nation calls, dying in battle is their destiny. But I’ve come today for another urgent matter. My senior, Shane, was traveling abroad and discovered that 300,000 Solantian soldiers have entered the Ovila Kingdom. They’re disguised as Ovilan troops and marching toward the Vagen Battlefield.”

“Absurd! That’s utter nonsense!”

The Alpha King’s voice thundered through the hall, and his dominating Alpha pressure instantly filled the chamber.
