My Alpha Wants Two Lunas I'm Done novel Chapter 7

Laila's POV:

"Pearl!" I snapped, cutting her off.

Holt turned his head, squinting at me.

"Alpha?" he asked. "You mean the Alpha's daughter? Or the Alpha's sister?"

He let out a mocking laugh.

"Give up on those fantasies, Laila. You're 22 years old. It's time to face reality. Your wolf spirit isn't getting any stronger; you're going to be an Omega for the rest of your life. Stay with the Ironclaw Pack, and you can keep your fake Luna title. Leave me? You wouldn't even survive a day in the wild."

Then he turned around and walked away, his cloak sending over a mix of his scent and another woman's.

Pearl started crying.

"That's so mean! That's just too much!" she sobbed, looking at me. "Ms. Conlay, doesn't it hurt when he talks to you like that?"

"Of course." My voice came out weirdly calm, even I was surprised at how cold it sounded. "But crying won't wash away the humiliation. Instead of crying, we should spend our time thinking about how to make them cry even harder later."

Pearl froze for a few seconds, then hugged me.

"Ms. Conlay, I'm done crying. I'm going to pack everything. We aren't leaving them anything!"

Pearl wiped her eyes hard. "You're right. Everyone who came here with us is leaving, too. Let those jerks rot in the dirt!" she cursed.

I smiled, but it didn't reach my eyes. "You're right."

When I got married and moved here, my mom sent over the servants who had cared for me since I was little. She wanted me to live comfortably, like I was still at home.

She thought of everything, but she couldn't protect me from Holt's heart changing.

The truth was, Holt's family was way poorer than I expected. The den's treasury was already drained by his mother's illness. For the past half year, it was the Silvermoon Pack's money keeping the Ironclaw Pack looking "respectable."

Their own servants were lazy and useless; my people were the ones actually keeping the place running.

Once I took everything back—the money, the workers, the resources—this pack was going to crumble.

But that had nothing to do with me anymore.

"Ms. Conlay, I swear, the Alpha will regret this one day," Pearl said while stuffing things into bags. "When he realizes the kitchen can't even serve raw meat, he'll crawl back begging you."

Later that night, after I fell asleep, the mark on the back of my neck suddenly stung.
