“If you really think you did nothing wrong, why did you tell us to keep it secret? You know

killed civilians and claimed it as military credit, right?”

“Still trying to deny it? You don’t even have the guts to admit what you did. Coward. You aren’t even worth Major General Conlay’s pinky finger.”

Maris’s face turned dark with rage as she listened to her former soldiers call her out. “Secret? That was to avoid unnecessary trouble! War is cruel. Civilians get hurt in every war. And what makes those Solantians innocent? They’ve been fighting us at the border for decades! My peace treaty ended the fighting. A few border towns were a small price to pay for real peace- they died for a good cause!”

“Heh.”

Casper couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh.

Some people never feel sorry. They just wrap their crimes in more lies and twisted logic until the day they die.

Maris quickly reacted and forced a flattering smile. “I-I can really help you. I know everything about Laila and Samuel’s plans-”

Before she could finish, something flashed!

A pure silver dagger, carved with an old wolf crest, stabbed the back of Maris’s hand, pinning her to the cold floor.

“Argh!”

Her painful scream echoed inside the wooden cabin.

Casper calmly let go of the dagger handle, like he had just thrown away a piece of trash.

His eyes went blank for a second, then he grabbed Maris by her hair and dragged her roughly toward the stone door.

Outside was the snowy, empty wilderness near Simonne Town.

It was a total blizzard out there. No one else was around.

Standing just ten steps away from the door was tall, scary figure.

Silas!

The Marshal of the Solantia Kingdom.

Maris trembled violently.

She’d met him during the peace treaty signing at the Lovanfall battlefield.

Back then, Silas had been dignified and composed, even carrying the restrained elegance of someone in power.

The negotiations had gone unbelievably smoothly. He agreed to almost every condition she set, demanding only the immediate release of that prisoner.

She used to secretly feel proud, thinking it was huge, easy achievement handed to her by fate.

But now, the man standing in the snowstorm had no expression on his face.

Only a coldness in his eyes, deeper than frozen.ce.

Silas glanced at her, then looked at Casper.

“Drag them all out. Don’t miss a single one.”

He paused. His eyes slowly swept over the pale, terrified faces.

“I remember every single one of their faces from the day we signed that treaty.”

Casper gritted his teeth. “Got it. I’ll avenge my brother.”

He looked at Maris. “What about her?”

A cruel smile curved on Silas’s lips. “Her? I’ll deal with her myself.”

Casper nodded and turned around. “Start the punishment! I want to hear the screams they deserve!”

The captured soldiers turned pale. Some of the collapsed as their legs gave out, but they kept their mouths shut and didn’t beg for mercy. It was the last bit of pride they had as soldiers.

Maris, however, couldn’t stop shaking.

Her eyes filled with tears as she looked up at Silas, her lips trembling as she tried to beg.

But Silas spoke first. His voice was soft, but it crushed her last bit of hope.
