Chapter 73 Selling Out Laila
Third-person POV:
Memories gnawed at Maris like a poisonous snake.
She had been so ticked off by that guy’s nasty curse.
So she personally ordered his “punishment.”
Since he cursed her family line to end, she decided to end his first.

They used a silver blade to cut off his penis, then rubbed silver powder on the wound so the werewolf’s strong healing ability wouldn’t work.
But that still wasn’t enough.
Her soldiers surrounded him. Like he was trash, they peed on him and forced him to swallow filth, trying to humiliate him into shutting up.
But that guy was tougher than expected.
Even like that, his hoarse voice kept shouting terrifying curses at Maris and her family.
Blinded by rage, she ordered them to stab him with blunt spikes mixed with silver dust, leaving more “marks” on his body.
“Make him shut up!” she screamed.
Maybe her
Was too cruel. Maybe the soldiers got scared and angry because of his
curses and lost control. But who could blame them? Who wouldn’t lose it over a curse that
nasty?
What no one expected was that Silas Kincaid, the Marshal of the Solantia Kingdom, rushed straight from the front lines to Deervale City.
When b
saw the guy beaten and mangled, his overwhelming rage and pressure made the sky seem to darken.
In the end, Silas offered a deal that was way too good to pass up: a ceasefire, a new boundary line, and a promise that the Solantian werewolf army would never cross them again.

An easy bargain that could skyrocket her career in exchange for a prisoner she’d crushed into the dirt?
She used to think the Solantians were just weak and easy to push around.
That’s what she smugly believed back then.

Had she messed with someone she never should have?
The air felt thick with the smell of death.
Maris couldn’t stop shaking. Survival instinct took over everything.
“What’s the point of catching me?!” she screamed, desperate to save herself. “The ones who defeated you at Vagen Battlefield were Samuel and Laila! Laila Conlay-Kain Conlay’s daughter! She’s the reason you lost Vagen! She slaughtered countless of your werewolf soldiers! She’s worth way more than me! I can help you catch her! I know all her weaknesses!”
“Maris! How dare you sell out Major General Conlay!”
Beta Ivan Skyler, who had been silently following her, couldn’t take it anymore. “She’s a war hero!”
“Shut up!” Maris snapped back, annoyed.
Ivan’s eyes turned red with anger.
Even though he was Maris’s right-hand man and had been part of the cruelty back in Deervale City, fighting on the front lines had changed him. He was a soldier, and there were some lines you just don’t cross, even if it means dying.
“And another thing.” Ivan’s voice shook with rage. “During the fight just now, did you use Walker as your human shield? Do you even know his mate just had a pup?!”
Maris froze.
She remembered a werewolf’s claws coming right for her throat, and she had instinctively grabbed the person next to her and pulled them in front of her. She didn’t even see who it was. In a life-or-death moment, who has time to check?
“I didn’t know it was him,” she said weakly, her face pale. “I thought … an enemy had slipped up beside me.”
“Lies!” Ivan roared. “How could an enemy get that close to you without a sound? You can’t
