My Alpha Wants Two Lunas I'm Done novel Chapter 99

Chapter 99 Thoughtful Samuel

Third-person POV:

The general who came back from victory got a big celebration party, as usual.

The party was held at the Royal Court.

Holt was invited. Maris didn’t show up.

Normally, Maris would’ve made a scene. But this time, she left quietly without saying a word.

Laila glanced at her back for a second, then looked away and followed the others into the Royal Court.

The banquet was actually pretty boring. It was just people giving compliments.

Most of the talk was about Samuel, and the rest was about Laila.

People praised her for inheriting her dad’s blood and claws. They called her “the new blood moon rising over the Rydar Kingdom.”

After a few drinks, the vice minister from the Department of Military Affairs-wine-flushed -swirled his glass and smiled at Holt. “So, seeing your ex-Alpha she-wolf shining so bright … do you regret it?”

People laughed. Holt suddenly looked up.

His eyes went past the crowd and locked onto Laila.

His lips moved, but then he kept his mouth shut he didn’t dare answer.

His marriage was a reward for war merit, sanctioned by the Alpha King. He couldn’t admit he was regretful, even if he was dying inside.

But that moment of hesitation told everyone everything they needed to know.

Everyone exchanged looks.

He actually regrets it?

Laila kept a straight face, but her knuckles turned white.

It was a stupid, disrespectful question that shouldn’t have been asked.

Whatever was between her and Holt should’ve been over a long time ago.

But the whispers started spreading like wildfire.

“Regret? I would, too. Maris is just a small Beta. Laila’s an Alpha, and she made a huge contribution in reclaiming Vagen.”

“I also heard Maris disobeyed orders at Vagen and got the whole vanguard killed.”

“She calls herself a general? Please. But Laila… Do you think she still has feelings for Holt? I mean, his face is still pretty good-”

“If she softens and goes back…”

The gossiping was like a buzzing mosquito in Laila’s ear. She sat there, quietly tapping her glass with her fingernail.

She was about to look up, but her eyes met Samuel’s across the table.

Something in his eyes darkened for just a second.

The next second, his steady voice cut through all the noise. “Speaking of the flank attack, the third unit’s wolf-pack split tactic is worth a closer look.”

Just like that, the military talk hooked every general’s attention.

The awkward tension vanished, replaced by the sound of clinking glasses and serious discussion.

Laila quietly let out a breath.

“Thoughtful,” Nita said.

Meanwhile, back at the Ironclaw Pack den.

Elara had just finished listening to a servant’s shaky report.

The servant had connections in the Royal Court and had gone through a lot of trouble to get the full list of soldiers who earned merit in the Battle of Vagen.

“Bad news, Mrs. Enclaw,” the servant said softly. The female general who broke through two fortresses wasn’t Luna. It was … Laila Conlay.”

“Laila?!” Elara screamed, gripping the back of her chair. “Impossible! What about Maris? Where is Ironclaw Pack’s Luna on that list?”

“She… she’s not on it.”

“Are you crazy?! Say something like that again, and I’ll tear your mouth apart!”
