My ex husband wants me back (Daven and Althea) novel Chapter 644

Chapter 644

The Berlin sky slowly shifted, fading from pale orange into a deep, tranquil blue as night took over. High above the city, far from its noise, a private sky dining area had been prepared, nothing overly grand, nothing excessive, yet intimate enough to feel as though it belonged to just the two of them. Soft lights hung gently around the space, candles flickered warmly on the table, and a subtle strain of classical music filled the air without ever intruding.

Lydia paused the moment they arrived.

“Cale…” she turned to him, momentarily at a loss. “Is this… for real?”

Cale only glanced at her briefly, his expression as composed as ever. “You said I had to make it up to you.”

“Making up for a missed dessert doesn’t have to look like this,” Lydia replied, though the curve of her lips betrayed her smile.

“If I did it halfway, you’d complain again.”

Lydia huffed softly. “I’m not that bad.”

“You’re demanding enough.”

“And you’re insufferable.”

Cale’s lips curled into a faint smirk as he pulled out her chair. The gesture was simple, unadorned-but enough to make Lydia stop commenting.

Not far from them, Andrew glanced around, his expression tinged with disbelief. “I didn’t even know this place could be booked privately,” he muttered.

Cale cast him a brief look. “Now you do.”

Andrew nodded, still slightly stunned, before stepping back to give them space. “Enjoy your dinner, Mr. and Mrs. Miller. I’ll be waiting in the lobby. Please call if you need anything.”

Cale gave a small nod, allowing the man to leave. Once they were alone, the atmosphere softened, settling into something quieter. Lydia sat down, taking in her surroundings once more before looking back at Cale.

“You really don’t do things halfway, do you?” she said.

“I never do.”

“Sometimes I question all your decisions.”

“That’s your problem.”

Lydia let out a soft laugh, reaching for the glass in front of her. “Alright then. To a dinner that’s far too extravagant for simple compensation.”

Cale lifted his glass slightly. “And to you, who’s far too hard to satisfy.”

“Hey.”

Still, their glasses met with a soft clink.

Dinner unfolded at an unhurried pace. There were no grand declarations, no overly dramatic exchanges-but that was exactly what made it feel comfortable. They talked about things they rarely had time to discuss, without pressure or weight behind their

words.

“So… about Hong Kong,” Lydia said, resting her chin against her hand as she studied him, her gaze more serious now. “What do I need to prepare?”

Cale didn’t answer right away. He calmly cut into his steak before finally lifting his gaze to meet hers.

“Not much.”

Lydia let out a quiet huff. “Your version of ‘not much’ usually still ends up being a hassle.”

“If you want details, I can explain,” Cale replied flatly.

“Yes, of course I do.”

Cale leaned back slightly. “The place is already arranged. I don’t know if you’ll like it, but I’ve made sure it’s the best I can offer. You don’t need to worry about that.” He paused briefly, making sure she was paying attention. “As for your work in SunCity-it won’t be disrupted.”

Lydia raised a brow. “You’ve already arranged that?”

“I made sure the option stays open for you,” Cale said simply. “You can continue as you are, or reduce your schedule. It’s up to you. Even if you decide to stop working entirely, stay home, and wait for me to come back-I wouldn’t mind.”

Lydia studied him for a few seconds, a little taken aback by how… flexible that sounded. “And you won’t interfere with whatever decision I make? Even if I choose to keep working under high pressure?”

“If it’s high pressure, why work at all?” Cale replied calmly. “I can give you more money than you’ll ever need. But if you still want to work, then adjust it around your main role as my wife. Don’t take anything that puts you in danger.”

“Your definition of ‘danger’ is broad.”

“That’s why I’ll be the one deciding.”

Lydia let out a soft laugh. “Of course.” She picked up her glass, swirling it lightly before continuing. “If I keep working in SunCity, does that mean I’ll have to go back and forth?”

“We’ll arrange the schedule.”

“And if I don’t want to spend too much time in Hong Kong?”
