Chris nodded. "They stopped selling products."

Naomi frowned. "Then what did they sell?"

"They started selling experiences."

Naomi fell silent for a moment. "That sounds complicated."

"Because it is complicated." Chris smiled faintly. "That's why they're paid so much to think about it."

Naomi shook her head lightly. "I've never really understood things like that."

"You could learn."

Naomi shrugged. "I've never thought about it."

Chris glanced at her. This time, there was something slightly different in his gaze. "Maybe because you've been too busy surviving all this time? How many side jobs were you working back then?"

"Um... four or five? I've lost count," Naomi said with a soft laugh. "And I never knew about the kinds of things you were talking about just now, Chris. Maybe because those jobs were completely outside my reach."
