My ex husband wants me back (Daven and Althea) novel Chapter 823

For most of the journey from the Miller family's main residence to the airport, Naomi had remained quiet. Even on the plane, she spoke only when necessary. As if she wanted to enjoy the trip, when in fact she didn't. Naomi's thoughts were still back in Sun City.

She had lost count of how many times her fingers had opened her phone's gallery. And every single time, the same photo appeared on the screen. The photo from their camping trip—the one Josh had taken and that had annoyed her when he sent it to the family group chat.

A small smile unconsciously appeared on her face. In the photo, the four of them were enjoying the riverside. Grace was laughing. Josh looked far too enthusiastic. Eli stood calmly beside them.

And herself.

For a while, Naomi simply stared at the photo. Until Lydia's voice came from beside her.

"Do you miss them?"

Naomi immediately locked her phone screen and put it away nervously. "No."

Lydia laughed softly. "You know, you're not very good at lying."

Naomi clicked her tongue quietly, but this time she didn't argue.

Lydia smiled and closed her tablet.

Since boarding the plane, Lydia had been catching up on some overdue work on her tablet. Meanwhile, Cale occasionally reviewed work documents that Vincent had sent him.

"If you miss them, just call them."

Naomi fell silent.

"They'd be happy if you called."

Naomi looked at the woman. Lydia continued casually, "Grace will probably call you before you even get the chance to call them."

This time, Naomi genuinely laughed. And somehow, she no longer knew when talking to Lydia had become as easy as talking to someone she had known for a very long time. Maybe it was because Lydia never forced her to say anything or placed demands on her. She always gave Naomi space whenever she needed it.

"Yeah, maybe you're right." Naomi nodded slightly. Then, after a brief silence, she found herself remembering the conversation from yesterday. Her conversation with Chris. Earlier that morning, Chris had already gone to the TnC office before they left. He had said there were a few urgent matters to take care of.

Naomi didn't mention a single thing about what had happened at the Sun City mall. She only hoped Chris would be able to resolve whatever he needed to. At least they had managed to see each other at breakfast before being separated by thousands of miles.

"Chris said something yesterday."

Lydia turned and looked at Naomi with interest. "What did he say?"

"About college."

Interest immediately appeared in Lydia's eyes. She was far more interested in hearing what Naomi had just said than anything else. Including Cale's idea of setting Naomi up with Chris.
