Melissa's eyes lit up with sudden interest.
"Is that really true?"
"Absolutely. I heard Damian even took a beating for it. Elena is a complete savage. She’s managed to offend the entire Sinclair family," Spencer said, taking a sip of water to punctuate his point.
"Mom, does that mean I still have a chance?" Emily asked, her voice trembling with excitement.
Ever since she heard the Whelans had moved into the Evergold Heights estate, she had been consumed by envy. That mansion was even grander than the Sterling villa! She was jealous down to her bones. When she lived there, the Whelans never had such luck. The moment she left, they suddenly struck gold. Did she not deserve to enjoy that wealth?
"I think Emily has a shot. The Sinclairs loathe Elena right now. Mom, if you take Emily over there, maybe they'll change their minds," Spencer said. This was his true motive.
The entertainment industry was brutal lately; filming all day and taking endless commercials to support this massive household was exhausting.
He hadn't slept in nearly two days.
If the Sterlings could latch onto the Sinclairs, he wouldn't have to work so hard.
"You're right. Honey, let's go. We're taking Emily to visit the Sinclairs right now! Emily, go change into something elegant. You need to make a good impression and outshine Elena!" Melissa commanded.
She was a woman of action.
Thomas Sterling, who rarely had an opinion of his own, simply followed his wife's lead.
...
At the Sinclair Estate.
Amber listened as the housekeeper announced the arrival of the Sterling family.
"The Sterlings? Never heard of them. Send them away," Amber rejected them immediately. A small-time family like that didn't deserve her time. As the third mistress of the Sinclair dynasty, she had countless people clamoring for an audience; she couldn't see them all.
