Coming outside, Elena saw a woman on her knees in front of Theresa, her hair a mess.
She was clutching Theresa's pant leg, begging bitterly.
“Miss Ellington, please, save my husband! Only your hospital can treat my husband's illness! Please!”
“I'm sorry, my family's hospital isn't a charity. You should wait for the director's decision. Begging me is useless. Besides, the hospital beds are basically full every day. Where do you expect me to find a spot for you?” Theresa said.
She never managed family affairs, and she certainly didn't want to manage hospital matters.
There were many suffering people in the world; they couldn't save them all.
If she set this precedent, everyone would come running to beg, and the hospital would be overrun.
“Miss Ellington, please, have some mercy! Miss Ellington...”
“Bestie! You're here!” Theresa suddenly saw Elena, and a smile immediately appeared on her face.
Elena walked over, and the woman looked up, their eyes meeting.
Elena felt somewhat surprised. Wasn't this Melissa?
How had she fallen to such a state?
One couldn't tell at all that this was the once arrogant, insufferably haughty woman.
Ever since the Sterling family went bankrupt, she had been crushed by life. She had none of the aura of a wealthy lady left.
Melissa froze when she saw Elena.
“Bestie, you know her?” Theresa asked.
Elena responded indifferently, “Mm, she is Thomas Sterling's wife.”
Theresa understood immediately upon hearing that!
