“Oh no! Our rider Kim is down!” Allan shouted in panic.
The screen hadn’t captured exactly how Allan's teammate crashed, but a distress signal had already been triggered.
“Let’s go. Save him!” Elena said instantly.
She and Allan rushed out. Allan started to speak, “Sis, get on my—”
Before he could finish, Elena snatched the keys from his hand and hopped onto a motorcycle. She pulled on a helmet, twisted the throttle, and vanished before his eyes.
Allan stood frozen for two seconds before scrambling onto another bike to chase after her.
When Elena found the crashed rider, he was lying on the ground surrounded by a pool of blood. She removed his helmet and checked for breath. There was none.
She immediately began CPR.
By the time Allan and Dylan arrived, they saw Elena tirelessly pumping the rider's chest. The medical team arrived moments later.
“Kim! Kim!” Allan cried out, worried sick for his friend.
“Get him on the stretcher, quickly!”
Kim was taken away.
“It had to be Julian. Only he is that vicious! Last year, he hurt a lot of people too!” Allan said through gritted teeth.
In the racing world, Julian was despised for his brutal tactics. And indeed, Julian maintained his lead, crossing the finish line first.
Round one went to Julian.
