Reclaimed By My Alpha (Natalia and Andrei) novel Chapter 588

Natalia’s POV

The light wound up leading us to a small, nondescript inn with a sign that read Rusty’s Restat the edge of a narrow and winding roadway. It had worn wooden siding and an inviting yellow glow through the dusty old windows.

We were all surprised to come across any sign of civilization in a place that felt so remote and far from home, but the rain had picked up by then, making us all shiver, so we hurried inside.

The air inside the inn was warm and smelled like beer and fresh soup. There were several wooden tables and a fireplace, but there was no one else inside except for an older woman behind the counter.

She looked up at us and gasped. Customers! She waved us over to a table. Come, sit! Are you looking for a room?

Yes.I exchanged glances with Andrei and Max, then turned to the woman as it hit me. I, umI’m afraid we don’t have any money.

The woman blinked. Oh. This isn’t a charity, you know.

I know, but, umWe sort of lost our things on the road.I pulled my shoulders back. I’m Luna Natalia of Moonshadow. And this is my husband-

Alpha Andrei,Andrei said, extending his hand.

The woman’s eyes widened. She looked between the three of us, studying us each in turn as if not quite sure if we were real or

not.

You meanthe Andrei and Natalia?she asked. As in, you’re the Alpha who went missing five years ago?

Andrei nodded.

As soon as we’re able to arrange for someone to come pick us up,he said, I can pay you double what you normally charge. The woman’s cheeks flushed with greed. She smiled, pulling out the chairs for us. Please sit. I’m sure you’re all hungry.

Very,Max groaned, plopping into his chair.

A few minutes later, three enormous bowls of piping hot soup and an entire loaf of bread were placed between us. Andrei and I both ordered a beer, because fuck it. Max almost ate all the bread himself, making Andrei smile.

Growing boy,he said.

Max swallowed a huge bite of bread. I have to get bigger. Mom’s gonna let me train with the warriors now.

I never said that!I protested.

Max looked at me like I was stupid and said nothing.

I sighed, recalling all too well his actions that saved my life. Fine.I wagged my finger at him. But school comes first!

Max grinned and grabbed another slice of bread. Andrei chuckled and sipped his beer. I looked over at him and felt myself smiling, too. After five years, I thought I would never hear the sound of Andrei’s laugh again. But here it was, bright and clear and right next to me, smiling at me over the rim of his glass.

It still felt like a dream. A good one, but with a thread of terror wound around it. As if I would suddenly wake up alone in Moonshadow and none of this would have ever happened.

Under the table, I pinched my thigh just for good measure.

It hurt, but I didn’t wake up. If this was a dream, then I wasn’t going to wake anytime soon.

After we ate, Andrei used the woman’s phone to contact his Beta. As it turned out, we weren’t as far from home as we’d initially thought, we were just a few miles south of the Thornwood, a few hoursdrive from home.

I arranged two rooms for the night, as the rain had intensified to the point of being too difficult to drive, and besides, we were all too exhausted to do anything else that night. All I could think about was taking a hot bath and sleeping in Andrei’s arms.

Hanging up the phone, Andrei walked over to me. I turned to him. Well?

He’s coming in the morning.
