Since when was a poor girl from a run-down farm worthy of being her friend? And she certainly wasn’t going to side with the friend of her rival.
“Principal, I’ve already listed my evidence in the email and submitted it to the Department of Education. I trust they will make their own judgment,” Cyrilla said with a faint smile. “Besides, this is something that’s obvious to anyone, even if no one says it aloud.”
She had photos from that fondue dinner. Giselle being treated by Loyce alongside the principal and teachers—it was concrete proof. Otherwise, how could someone with Giselle’s grades possibly get into the Ace Class?
Cyrilla dug her nails into her palm and added, “The advanced questions on this exam were written by the Ace Class teachers, weren’t they? Even students in the Ace Class rarely get a perfect score on those extra-credit problems, let alone a student who has consistently ranked in the bottom half of the class.”
At this, Clayton glanced at the email again, his frown deepening. “Your evidence is based solely on the fact that I invited Loyce to dinner? And from that, you concluded that our teachers leaked the exam? Let me warn you, if you make accusations without proof, you’re the one who will be disciplined.”
“How is that baseless speculation? You met at such a sensitive time,” Cyrilla’s smile faded. “Anyone with common sense would know something was up. And besides—”
“Enough!” The Dean of Academic Affairs, sitting beside him, could no longer hold back. The incident had alerted the Department of Education, putting him under investigation and threatening his job. He was furious.
“Let me tell you, Cyrilla, the school and its teachers are perfectly clear on whether Giselle cheated or not,” the Dean slammed his hand on the table. “You made an accusation without any concrete evidence, and when you did that, you should have been prepared to face the consequences!”
The Dean did not hold back, showing her none of the leniency she had expected. Cyrilla’s face went pale, and her lips trembled violently. Ever since she had arrived at this school with the status of a Shapiro heiress, the teachers had always treated her with courtesy. She had never been dressed down so harshly before.
It had to be because of Loyce. That woman had some nerve, turning the teachers so completely to her side. She must have spent a fortune buying them off!
