Lila nearly spat out her mouthful of coffee. She wiped her mouth, staring in utter shock. "What did you just say?"
"Fire me?" Lila slammed her coffee cup onto the counter, heedless of the scalding liquid that splashed out. She closed the distance between them in a few strides, getting right up in Loyce's face. Her finger was practically jabbing Loyce's nose, her voice shrill with absurdity and rage:
"Say that again? Did window-shopping rot your brain? Who do you think you are?! A broke student dressed in flea market rags, acting like you own the place and pointing fingers at me? Firing me? Who the hell are you! Do you know who I am? Do you know who owns this store? It belongs to Macrostar Production! To the Seabrooks! I am Alicia Seabrook's actual niece! Who do you think you are? Get lost! Get out of here right now! Or I'm having security throw you out!"
Spit flew from Lila's mouth, the spite and superiority practically oozing from her face.
The young sales associate who had tried to defuse the situation went pale. She wanted to pull Lila back but didn't dare, forced to stand anxiously on the sidelines. Giselle was so angry she clenched her fists, ready to fire back, but Loyce gently raised a hand to stop her.
Loyce simply made a call to Mr. Woods, telling him to come down to the basement level and to bring the closure seals with him.
During this time, Lila's mockery didn't stop for a second. Loyce wasn't angry; she merely had an updated understanding of the 'Bloomberry' brand. Alicia had likely planted all her relatives inside 'Bloomberry' to run amok until they bled it dry.
Mr. Woods arrived with his team. Before he even stepped through the door, he heard the ugly cursing. Cold sweat poured down his back. Pushing past the crowd of onlookers, he entered the store and saw Lila's finger practically poking Loyce in the face. He instantly let out a roar:
"Shut up!!!"
The shout carried extreme panic and fury, instantly drowning out Lila's screaming and silencing the entire store, as well as the crowd gathered at the entrance.
Startled by the sudden roar, Lila shivered and whipped her head around. Seeing it was Mr. Woods, a fake smile immediately plastered onto her face, though her tone still carried the intent of a tattletale. "Oh, Mr. Woods, you're finally here! Look at these two clueless customers, causing trouble in our store and not letting us do business. She even threatened to fire me! You need to..."
Her words came to an abrupt halt.
Because she saw that Mr. Woods—who was usually quite polite to her—now had a livid expression, his eyes filled with terror and a ruthlessness she had never seen before.
Mr. Woods wasn't looking at her at all!
His gaze, like the lowest servant seeking an audience with a monarch, was dead locked onto the young girl in the plain athletic wear!
"I am so incredibly sorry, Ms. Lonsdale." In front of everyone, Mr. Woods bowed deeply to the ordinarily dressed girl. "We will immediately seal off and close this store for a detailed investigation."
