Loyce took her seat, her tone completely resolute. "My designer absolutely did not plagiarize. You can rest assured on that."
"Langley Jewelers approached me this morning." Renee slid a folder across the table toward her. "They're also entering the Nexus Design competition and want me to model for them. Langley Jewelers is partnering with Élégance to launch a jewelry line targeting young women."
Loyce racked her brain for a moment but couldn't quite place the name.
Lucian chimed in, "Sylvie Langley. You crushed her ego at that charity gala you attended a while back."
It clicked for Loyce. She immediately caught the scent of the real problem. "So, their designer stole the designs from Bloomberry's designer?"
Renee nodded emphatically, tapping the document that had been faxed over that morning. "I obviously want to stay on good terms with Langley Jewelers, but the issue is that they're collaborating with Élégance. And the final design Élégance submitted for the competition is completely identical to the one your designer gave me."
Loyce opened the design file. At first glance, it was indeed a perfect replica of Giselle's work. But the most glaring detail was the name in the designer's credit: Sybil Seabrook.
Seeing that name, Loyce let out an amused, mocking laugh. "Her? A designer?"
Lucian glanced at the name and scoffed. "In all the years I've known her, the only thing I've ever seen her do is play the piano. But ever since you publicly outed her for buying that music score, she's completely vanished from the social scene."
Renee looked surprised to hear the backstory. "Then how on earth did she get her hands on your drafts?"
"Bloomberry was always a shell company the Seabrook family used to line their pockets. It's completely normal that they still have a mole on the inside feeding them intel. Plagiarism like this doesn't shock me at all." Loyce saw right through the Seabrook family's pathetic little schemes.
She elaborated, "Sybil is probably panicking. She can no longer ride on the coattails of being the fake Lonsdale heiress, and her piano career is a scandalous wreck. She is more desperate than anyone to get the public's approval and admiration again. After all, her entire life's goal is to marry into a top-tier family. If she's constantly dogged by negative press, she won't be able to lock down a good husband."
