"Well, like mother, like daughter. The apple clearly doesn't fall far from the tree," Jean Morgan mocked loudly. Completely unafraid of offending her former employers, she added, "Isn't the real reason Élégance has been circling the drain for years because their designers just patch together stolen ideas to create absolute monstrosities?"
Alicia was officially panicking. This was a global broadcast!
Loyce was literally nailing them—and the entire Élégance brand—to the cross in front of every major player in the international fashion world!
But the humiliation wasn't even the worst part. If Élégance's brand credibility tanked from this, the financial losses would be apocalyptic.
"This was my daughter's personal decision! You cannot blame the entire brand for the actions of one individual!" Alicia yelled, desperately trying to do damage control. "Whenever she makes a mistake, I discipline her immediately! I had no idea she would continue going behind my back to do things like this!"
To save the empire, Alicia had to make a sacrifice.
She threw Sybil completely under the bus.
Sybil's chance at marrying into high society was already dead in the water because of this scandal. She was officially a useless pawn.
"Mom!" Sybil screamed, her eyes bugging out in absolute disbelief. She looked like she was about to faint.
But Alicia's desperate deflection fell on deaf ears. The audience only looked at her with even greater contempt.
Right then, Sylvie Langley shot to her feet, her face dark as thunder.
She knew that if she hesitated for even a second, the Langley family's reputation—and her right to inherit the empire—would be dragged down into the abyss. She had to sever ties instantly!
